I'm look for a small alternator to take the place of a 70 amp Delco remy single wire alternator. I have done some searches and found that Denso seems to be the brand to go with. But I can't seem to find a model number for one that will bolt into place of a Delco remy single wire alternator.
I have 2 and one is 5-5/8" bolt hole centers and the other 6-3/8" bolt hole centers, both same diameter.
Both were ebay purchases for an odd engine. Small one off a forklift for a v belt pulley cheaper than I could buy pulley but was uncertain of amps, bigger one is 80A off Hyundai suv, just checked and no tags on one and not readable on other. If you have a swiveling adjusting arm, any would do. If a fixed bracket, you need to match spacing.
Kabota and densos both make a fine alternator. I remember seeing in the Summit catalog a Denso that was a direct fit for the stock GM one wire but I don't know if it will show up on the site that way or not. I don't like to do much in the line of spam so if you PM me I'll give you a number to call, the rep will be glad to give you a part number even if you don't buy from them. you just tell him it is for future reference which is basically the truth right?
I got one of those Denso alternators online sold as a racing alternator for Chevy. Shouldn't be any big deal to adapt it. I put mine on a Yanmar tractor.
I picked a Denso off a '90 Toyota Corolla in a local yard. Rated at 65 amps. Got a self-exciting internal regulator and single v-groove pulley from a regular seller on the auction site and converted it over. Local shop tested it to 90 amps. Had to fab a mount for it, but it's working great on my T. Roger
The on I'm going to try and use on off a 1993-1997 Camry it looks like it will bolt right up to a Declo Remy alternator bracket with little modification. I just have to figure out the wiring and where to find the self-exciting internal regulator for it.
I have a Shogun set-up a friend gave me for a SBC. Shogun has closed up shop the guy retired. It bolts up to the front moter mount holes in the front of the block. I looked up the unit and it is a Kabota. Thing is I don't know how to wire it. It has 2 wires. Pat
Sorry, guys, but this is for Old1946truck's benefit. I got my pieces from this guy. He includes his phone number, if you want to deal directly, and should be able to fix you up with what you need. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nippondenso...ley-/231543170626?hash=item35e90c6642&vxp=mtr and an FYI; Don't get one off a late-model Dodge pickup. Dodge uses the ECU to externally regulate the alternator. Roger
I'm going to try and go to the U pull it yard either tomorrow or Friday and see what I can find. I just have to find a 5/8 pulley.
...Don't get one off a late-model Dodge pickup. Dodge uses the ECU to externally regulate the alternator. Yabut you can use a normal regulator with them, like the mopar solid-state one.
I'm using one from a 90s GM car...wiring diagram for it can be found online.. Don't know if it will fit on 10SI mounts or not but it was easy to fab up mounts for it. Pully is a direct fit from a 70s GM 10SI alternator...5/8ths I believe.
