    Hello
I am putting together a 671 blower on a small block chevy. I am trying to piece it together and was wondering what length snout I should try to find? I plan to run a 3 inch belt. I see them advertised all different lengths 3- 7/8, 4 ,6 inch. I plan to use the stock 671 front cover.

Do I need to get the intake and crank drive first and go from there ?

If it is for racing then go with the 3 7/8

I only deal with race setups, so the only thing I would recommend is that you contact places that build blowers and use what they have as a package already (sans blower)

i have a 6" drive for sale cheap. no run time just on dyno. off a blower shop 8-71. when i got the engine (big block chevy)it had that and a 3 belt pulley. i wanted to shorten it up to stuff it in a model A.and keep a 3" belt. i removed the harmonic balancer and went with a crank hub and 1 groove pulley and a short snout. i have to run a remote water pump. no room for a block mounted pump.

Go to a big car show and take some pictures of what you like and go from there. I would get the manifold first crank drive second and then see what you need.

  11. yes it's better to run a big block snout i machined a hub to out side dimensions giving a heavier wall, with two key ways, bored the timing cover for a big block seal before doing this the small block hub split in the key ways never broke the Crower crank running 30% overdrive at the track and 1 to 1 on the street

One good question is what is your budget? If you have deep pockets I would say buy a complete kit. If your going to price it together I would say get the manifold crank hub and blower first then you can start to measure for the snout. You can buy a 671 off a gmc and covert it or have someone do it for you. Nothing looks cooler than a blower. I just put together an isky vintage 2 inch blower drive and part of the fun is finding the rare parts love just the look of the whole set up.

I am going for the low buck version, can't swing no new kit . plan to run 12% underdrive on a 350 chevy crate engine that I picked up cheap.
Never played with a blower before find it very interesting.
So far I bought a 6-71 gmc blower $200. and Rick deans c.d. and plan to build it myself.
I found a new polished Weind intake for 335.00 shipped. Came in today on Amazon can't believe it looks good too.
Is there a certain brand crank hub better than another,so I can get by with 1 key?
I know 2 would be better but I don't plan huge horsepower or drag racing with this crate engine.

Also could I get by running 3 rochester 2 barrels? Anybody doing that?
We used to build them for circle track racing and think it is fairly easy to make them perform as well as a 600 cfm holley

You should be fine with one key way any blower hub should be fine bds dyers. You should be able to run 3 rochesters. Did you get an idler bracket yet?

no idler yet. I may make my own after I get all the pulleys. I hope to be able to run a short style water pump also
