That's also true. But we're a traditional hot rod and custom board. And like I said above, anything can make power given the brains and $$$$ to do it. When it comes to motors, it is what it is, and what that owner/builder likes. What's not really spoken about is who started that Ford in a Ford thing...like maybe the people that sell the stuff? I think small block Fords look good in billetrods.

The SBF is long but narrow, the timing cover and water pump make it tight in a pre-war ch***is. The forged 302 that we built for the '35 Pickup uses the short water pump. It also has Windsor Sr/ Roush 200 heads, a Weiand Stealth, 600 DP, a 100 hp plate system, and Sanderson headers. The cam is a Crane 224° @.050 cam. None of the stock heads flowed enough. I am kind of liking the AFR 165-185s for milder builds though. It will run through a Broader C-4 with a gear vendors OD. Should be moderately nasty.

I agree with some other guys on here, that they weren't popular swap material because they came on the scene after the SBC had been done a lot, and was not superior in any way to make people change their ways. A 283 with a cam/intake swap even with a 3-speed was pretty damn quick in a little pre-war car. They dropped right in too. The early low deck Hemi was a sweet swap too. I put a 354 in a '55 R100 Binder once, and man that was sweet.
