small block in 49 stude truck...suggestions

got a 2r10 i want to put a 350 w/auto trans...no frills. never done it before so any suggestions short of doin a camaro sub frame or mustang II. don't mind keepin the straight axle, just want to do it cheap as possible. this truck is goin to be a beater / bar hopper so it aint got to be pretty. enlighten my white ass!

Don't the purists - rods are OK.

 

I know a guy who had a 283 and a 5 speed in his Stude. kept the axle and I believe he even had the stock brakes. drove the snot out of that truck. so I figure everything needed to rebuild the brakes and front end must be available still.
