so im gettin a canvas button on top made for my 29 late 40s style banger RPU.... the guy at the upulstry shop talked me into running 2 safety attatchments at the front too corners underneath the bedrail(all buttons will be just under the bed rail ledge so the canvas is pulled over the sides and buttoned. the 2 buttons up front are in case the canvas decides to unbutton at the high rate speed of 55 mph the banger does :)

just a silly question but something as simple as these 2 buttons throw the car off in your guys opinion

Doubtful that anyone would fault you for a safety measure like that. They aren't that obvious, are they?

Those fasteners have been available since the Model T days, it isn't a problem.

To be absolotly correct- use slotted screws, not phillips- but they are covered up anyway.

  12. Yes, and you will thank him for them. Buttons don't always hold in a crosswind and such!

those things were used on European roadsters way back when - used on boat and aircraft covers and tonneaus even before the turn of the 20th century. If you're really that concerned about "period perfect", you're good to go.

And to be period correct be sure to use a single pot brake cylinder.

I've used those on teen cars. they are more period correct than the snaps anot that snaps weren't around but the twist locks were more common, you can get long shank ones so you can have 2 or 3 different pieces lock on at the same point.
