Of course..........it's like working in the warranty department....you only see the one's that break !

I was a Ford Partsman in the mid/late 60's and the only things we sold were for cars like your falcon.......nothing that could be found on model T's :D

great story! reminds me, my uncle towed cars into the late 90's with a '56 chevy wrecker. i remember asking him "what do people say when they see you pull up in this rusty thing"
his reply; " what can they say, their new car isn't running"

This is typical work for my 50 Chevy 1/2 ton during the summer.About 3000 pounds of maple in the bed and trailer. The 235 engine pulls the load ok at speeds the truck was made for.But it won't pull the load down the hiway at 75 MPH with the AC on like a new truck :D

This is encouraging to read since I have an appointment to go look at a '29 AA truck in a few days. My cousin offered it to me and we are going to look it over and take it for a test drive. It originally had a dump bed on it but his dad removed the dump and put a large camper on the truck about 10 years ago. They have been using it as their deer hunting truck all this time. It still has the original drivetrain and brakes on it. He told me that last winter it was the only vehicle they had on the farm that would start a couple of times.

    Great story! Thanks for sharing.
Nothing tougher than old trucks, made in apparently better times than todays make-belief world.

I had my daily driver 52 Chevy 1/2 ton truck for over 16 years now with a 30+ year old straight 6 after last rebuilt and stock brakes and driveline.
I can't count how many times I hauled loads across TX and S-CA roads and freeways for thousands of miles.
I have done all my biz trade shows with this truck loaded with irreplaceable valuables and never been worried or had any troubles - quiet the opposite.
Just last summer, I moved my entire household and business with almost 20 loads further out into the desert mountains.
6 years ago, I did a similar move over a 100 mile trip across the Mojave desert at 70 mph and got the same 19 mpg mileage as unloaded. :D

Old tech and trucks rule ..!

  9. Your trucks a beauty, I love those era Fords. I gotta say that I get a bit for a smirk on my face every time I p*** some new POS broken down on the side of the road, or when I am helping tow a friends car home with my 30 year old wagon. Why do I always seem to be fixing and running around for parts for 99 and up vehicles? Overly complicated piece o junk new cars are a huge waste of money.

Great truck and great story, the F6 is too simple to break and theoretically should run forever.

I used to haul s**** steel in C30 Chevy trucks of a '63-'65 vintage to the tune of 4500 lbs per load. They actually rode better with more weight in them.

Thanks!!! I love "Ole' Yeller"! It's been a great truck and has never let me down. I just hauled several loads of mulch for some people yesterday, not a lot of weight but a lot of miles and hours of run time. It always surprises me how much attention this beat up old rig gets too. I guess I'm just so used to seeing it that I forget that most foiks don't see one like this everyday. I drive it any chance that I get!!!

OK, haven't seen this one in a while Jason. Now I really got a job for ya.

  13. The reason those old beasts keep going is there is only one thing simpler-a fork.
When you see a broke-down 2006 POS everyone is scratching their heads trying to work out which $2 sensor failed .
It's good to see you stopped and helped, it will be repaid someday. I call it CARmah

    Chris,
That would be a heck of a road trip in Yeller from my place to yours!!!

I agree. People seem to have forgotten that there is reliability in simplicity!
