Hey, I'm just wanting to say hi. I've been a fan of vintage rods for a long time, and hope to start on one soon. Just gotta get some other projects outta the way first. My family runs a front-engine Top Fuel dragster with the Outlaw Nitro Alliance. We are using a '05 Neil & Parks ch***is, running a 417 Donovan, 100% VRA legal, and usually running avery large dose of Nitro. My dad drives, and I perform the tuning/crew cheif duties.

Thanks for the great site. There are some very wild rides on here. I hope to be a**** your ranks soon.

  2. Wecome on board . . . I'm a FNG as well. I originally signed up last January, lost my damn p***word and just recently came up for air long enough to get signed back up. I'm building a blown 392 with 417 heads for one of my hot rods --- lots of wild stuff for a street engine. I have never been able to locate anybody who has actually ran 417 heads on the street . . . decided it was possible, will find out if we can get enough water through them to keep it cool (believe we can). We're right in the middle of all the head work -- probably won't have the engine ready to fire until spring. I've also bought a couple more 392's -- to build for hotrod guys that need them. I'm also heavily into flatheads . . . too many ideas and project, just never enough time or $$$ for everything!

What are you working on? Best of luck on the site.

We're running billet BMT heads on the digger, but I do know of guys who have ran the 417 heads on the street and made them work fine. I wouldn't mind finding a 417 wet block to build a street motor on some day. Gotta love the old Hemi's. Right now I am getting ready to do a frame-off on my '71 El Camino. Probably going with a BBC and TH400 setup, and I'll likely run a large dose of nitrous through it. I really hope to get it finished soon, because I really want to build a rod. I've always liked the A sedans and pickups, but I also know of a guy around here with a very nice original '57 210 just waiting to be turned into a straight axle equiped street brawler. Whichever car I go with, it will have one of my BBCs with a my Hilborn 8-stack injection system. It ain't gonna be real pretty (NO bodywork or paint skills), but it will haul ***. Isn't that the point?
