Here's a link to some behind the scenes pics... http://www.insideline.com/features/snake-and-mongoose-movie-set-pictures.html
I don't think I've ever been this excited about seeing a movie in my life. .........Except maybe MFS.
Thank you Weedburner: Hey check out this great video.. I think you will like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HUgO3y64lmI Cant wait for this movie either. I hope they GET IT. God Bless the greatest sport on earth. Luke
It looks like they filmed it at my favorite racetrack, Famosa. I saw a bunch of "old-timers" in the background like Snake and Roland Leong. That gives me a real hope that the movie is being made accurately. I really detest racing movies and military movies that are terribly inaccurate. Can't wait!!
Gotta admit I'm pretty psyched about this movie, even though I'm pretty anal about details and will probably just pick it apart. Should still be entertaining though and definitely help the cause.
Im drooling!!!!! I remember seing them at detroit dragway when i was about 9 or 10 and I have been hooked ever since I cant wait to see this ok who else had the hot wheels set?
Thanks for the link! Dumb question for the Hollywood experts out there. Why are the faces/eyes blacked out on the pics? If you know who the people are you could easily recognize them. Some kind of confidentiality agreement or something?
My buddy was on Mcewen's pit crew when Prudhomme was his mechanic - he has great stories.... have to go see the movie with him.
Thanks for the heads up, Weedburner! These are 2 heroes of mine and Don and Tom definitely deserve to be acknowledged. Those were very excitng times (in a good way). Marketing their rivalry was genius. I've had the opportunity to meet and talk with Don Prudhomme many times (the 1st @ Lions in 1969) and I can't wait to see this movie! The story line should be great... based on fact and real life adventure! Hopefully I end up with another DVD for my movie arsenal in the garage
I was just looking at a model of that very Mongoose funny car at Michaels Art & Crafts store yesterday. The Snake/Mongoose always interest me because I was a kid during those times and had the hot wheel funny cars and dragsters. I am going to back to Michaels and buy the model. I didn't see the Snake though. That's a must because you can't have one without the other. It's the Hatfield/McCoy feud of Drag Racing.
I don't think Prudhomme was ever McEwen's mechanic unless if was help here and there in the late 50's when McEwen was driving his Mom's car. Prudhomme toured with Ivo before he became a driver in 1961, but once he became a driver, that was it. He was too busy driving to be on anyone else's crew. He didn't even become his own wrench until he left the Hawiian team and fielded his own car in '66. Looking forward to the movie, although I'm expecting the racing scenes to be as period correct as "Heart Like A Wheel" meaning, not very correct - but still enjoyable as a movie.
Read on another board that the production company ran out of budget about 1/2 way thru and cancelled a vinyl wrapping of two cars to race against each other at Famoso and rather than paying expenses would pay $250 per day for static display or $500 per day if a car was racing on the track... NO EXPENSES. Most of the filming was done in a WalMart parking lot http://www.insideline.com/car-news/snake-and-mongoose-races-to-the-movies.html <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
