This has the potential to be the next great 'car culture' flick. Hope they get it right. Keep in mind, the m***es need a decent story for it to work & be profitable. If that happens, it opens the door for other great motorsport themed movies in the future. There are many to be told, the Jim Dunn story is one that comes to mind.

  7. Looks like they had a decent budget to work with - should be great - we will see . . .

Yes Tom was a grea guy. I was lucking enough to be his crew guy for half the 1967 summer. Even got to sit in the wagonmaster, start it and warm the motors. Quite an experience.Never got to drive it down the track. rj

  9. I'm not holding my breath that Hollywood got it right... they won't. But I'll check it out anyway, of course.

Gotta rummage through my boxes of ****, I think I still have the Snake & ****oose posters I had over my bed when I was a kid.

  13. I'm hoping for the best, but not expecting much! What kills most hot rod movies is not goofing up technical details, but poor writing! I like Heart Like a Wheel, but it has some really bad corny dialogue, even Worlds Fastest Indian has some hideously corny stuff in the Bonneville scenes.
AG2 got it right in the drag scenes, it really captured the soul of 60's racing, if not correct in every detail. It's impossible to have decent acting and story with cornball dialogue!

So long as Nicalos Cage aint in it and nobody randomly jumps the ****oose 'Cuda at the end to escape the cops, it will be a great movie.

I'll hope for the best and not expect much as usual and maybe, just maybe I will be impressed. Fingers are crossed.....

The stories he would tell, between him, TV and Snake......the practical jokes they pulled on one another were hilarious

    I want one, :(

  23. I used to work at a Shell Gas Station on the corner of 9th and Hiway 395 (now 9th and Center City Parkway) in Escondido, CA, owned by Harold Mezeire (look him up, he's been into drag racing for a Looooong time) and I found out one day that the Snake was his cousin....how did I find out? a guy in a muscle car pulled up in the Islands, and THE SNAKE got out. I picked myself up off the floor, he said "fill it up" and went in to talk to Harold. They came back out a littlw while later, I told Don it was going to be (IIRC, it was a long time ago) 12 bucks, and Harold said to let it slide...I did.
Hopefully, they don't "Hollywood" the movie, but I suspect, from watching the trailer with all the kissy face scenes, they will) Still, the old archival footage will be worth it, hell yes I'm gonna go see it, and get it on DVD !!!

I am so ready to see this!!!!!!!!!!! Heard a Jungle Jim/Pam movie was in the works or near it too!!!!

  26. I can't think of any female that could portray Jungle Pam....except Jungle Pam. If they make the movie, and have some Brittany Spears/Lindsay Lolife taking the part, I will refuse to see it, no matter HOW good the archival footage is.

In the day, Jan Smithers (WKRP) could have pulled it off. But that's a whole 'nother thread...

Cant wait to see it. I too was a kid playing with the Hotwheels when they came out.
Then being a local in Bakersfield would always see them in action at Famoso.

It would have to be an unknown actress who looks similar in order to be realistic I think.

We all know how realistic Hollywood is.
