I'm getting close to having my altered inspired T road worthy. This weekend I blasted some paint on it. I was looking for a "bold" paint job and this is what I've done so far. It is a black base with fire red Metalfalke Glowble over it. These pics were taken after the first application of clear...so its a little rough yet. And yeah...I know, its 'gl***. I'm trying to drive it to the hunnert car pileup. Here's the car mocked up this spring. Here's some painted parts shots.
[ QUOTE ] ....oh great now you went and gave me a stiffy..... [/ QUOTE ] Please tell me your talking about the bucket having that effect on you!
Sorry.... I guess I should expound on what gives me a stiffy.. Any street car that looks like an altered T ...STIFFY!!!
I'm glad you're excited, Root. I'm really psyched to drive the damn thing! I got the motor running last weekend and it sounds wicked!
I'm not too educated on auto paint, especially metal flake, so I'm here at the HAMB to learn. What is done after you put down all the coats you want? Do you wet sand a heavy metal flake like this just like you would a regular paint? It looks awesome right now in the pics. Is it finished or are there more steps involved to finish the job? How many clear coats do you put over metal flake, or does it differ from regular paint? How often do you need to clean your gun with the heavy metal flake or is it even an issue? Just trying to learn!
I really like the whole theme of that car,its got a good profile and it looks like the way you are doing it will be killer.Im going to try my best to be at the pile up,hope I get a chance to see it in person.Good luck.
I would paint some "charttuce" spelling ???? I mean lime grean flames on it. because the walleye love that **** up north. hahahahaha looks damn good craig I hope to see it come to the show. bTW are those my shoes being used for longblocking??? drew
Lookin Good man! You got a special seat in there for Ernie? Does it have a livewell? My A won't be making it to the pileup even if I get the day off. The ****** is going out of it and the specetruck isn't ready just yet. Oh well, I'll probably be working anyway.
Ya know CAS, that was the original idea behind my old T but I figured "sellability" would lean more towards what I ended up with. Some day I will build another one and it will be in the original 60's altered gameplan. Press on brutha.
CAS, the flake turned out ***S... DAMN dude that cars got a mean *** look now... show a BEFORE pic and AFTER pic that'll really show the progress... I dig the flake, is there kandy over the top? or is it over Kandy? Looks like HOK FIRE RED FLAKERIFFIC[tm] Ignore the flake haters thats period **** dude i wana pic autographed oh YEAH rock the mullet post more pics when you get a chance home slice... that ****ers made for leavin chicks behind. NICE WORK DOG
Geez...thanks guys. I'm just buildin' what I see in my head. I'm not trying to be period perfect or out to fit in anywhere. I am glad you all see the "vision". I've always liked all of the weird **** I saw in pics of drag racing mid to late sixties. Monster...I'm no pro. I just lay on the flake and then clear, sand, clear, sand...buff. Tuck... no kandy. Flake on base black. I'll send ya an autograph. Drew...your shoes have 36 grit stuck on them!!
Cas What kind of nailhead and trans??? I thought a T might look good with this nailhead in my garage now I know it! COOL. Judd
