you could check out this outfit. send them a picture and they will transfer the image in the size and scale that you want. The stuff conforms to most couture and wears like iron. easy to apply and take off. scroll down page a bit and you'll see what i mean. and no im not affiliated with the company.:)

  2. Thought of that as well, and it's still weighing out in those imaginary scales deep within my medicated mind! The strong point for this option is that it becomes more a personal thing that only those who knew him would understand, and quite possibly it would be something the man would understand if he saw someone do it.

I'm one of those people who collect old things that once belonged to those who meant something to me. I'd rather have, for instance, a photo of my uncle pushing himself in a wheelbarrow, taken in France during WWII, as opposed to most people wanting his monetary leftovers. Personal items mean more to me than money...that's why the stuff I have that belonged to people while they were alive aren't going to be sold while I'm still taking up other people's good oxygen.

So I'm torn between a graven image and a personal momento...I may do one or the other, or both. Time will tell.

    I appreciate all input here

With the talent here on this board, you could go with the shifter (my first thought, but already mentioned) or how about a custom center grille bar with his face smilin' and leading the way? If done right, it would be a nice custom touch that would be noticed and appreciated.

Here are some hood ornaments to get the mind spinnin'

Is the original clock housing & bezel still on the top center of the dash? If so, could you ditch the clock and use the lens/bezel as a round photo frame?

If not, you could probably "french" the photo into the glove box door.

Go to a place that does vehicle wraps they can print it out as a big sticker for you. Then you can either apply it to the dash, or as long as its automotive grade vinyl you can paint over it 3m makes the best in my experience. I would do it as a sticker tat way if you get tired of it it comes off later
