Ideas of what you'd do to this? I've converted mine to '31 Plymouth axles in order to run 5 on 5.5 wheels. It's not my pic, I had to get it from the DBC site.
Chop it 5 inches and lose the hood sides because they'll interfere with the early chrysler hemi. Disc brake the stock front axle and run wire wheels from a 50s mopar. Other than the requisite dual exhaust, transmission swap, etc for the hemi, don't change anything else at all.
You have a 32 Dodge pu? If it is complete and solid, why not put a later (1942 or newer) 230 cubic inch flat 6 Dodge engine in it? They can be bought cheap, have 130 HP stock, fit without having to hack a bunch of stuff up,and there is still speed equipment being made for them. Use a floor shift car or truck transmission. I think they stopped putting floor shifts in Dodges in 38,but they still used them in pickups right through 1948. If you have never heard a flat 6 with split manifolds and glasspacks running through the gears, you will be in for a real treat when you put it together.
If you are over 5 feet tall and chop it 5 inches you probably won't be able to get in it. Drive it as is.
I have a fresh 218 (.080 over) and a fresh 318-not a poly-with a 727, I don't have a tranny for the 218 (rebuilt it for a forklift). I'm only 5'8...was also thinking a chiop since the cab is so "square", maybe 3-4 inches...5 inches would be cool, but might look out of proportion without channeling it? Thoughts about running with fenders and Running boards, or without? Not sure if a Hemi is in the budget, although it'd be super cool.
I agree, especially since I have them, and they're very workable. What's your thoughts on a big chop and leaving it high? I'm thinking it might look "squished"?
