This is "Carburator Carl" as he is well known for having worked on many of these cars and many 97's......

This Pete Eastwood event was just awesome, just like every year. What I don't understand, is the Rat Rods that show up, scraping on the speed bumps, losing parts, and then parking right next to million dollar rolling pieces of art history. It was well known that Eastwood really only wants pre 1932 stock motor cars. And who was the attention whore that had to show up in his red 2007 Mustang GT500......good hell, go to the dealer, buy a new car and think your the shit......WTF

COOP - your pics are awesome!..... I saw you taking a million there.

Thanks! - I hope my model A sedan wasn't one of the "rat rods" you mention...

Just kidding ya... I didn't see too many rat rods, but there were a couple of bitchin' hot rods there. Who owned this cool roadster? Everything about it was just right.

Great pics-these guys are into restoration, but we can all admire the beauty in stock or modified.

That's Marion's car, he has all the spider web tatoos going up his arms. He's featured in the Burbank Chopper's - "Electroline Diaries" ....(no, I don't own the book). Marion has a couple of highly sought after hot rod cars, I first met him when he finished his '32 3W, chopped with a Hemi. Last year he found a '33 Roadster, mostly complete in Palmdale .......

As for old cars and restoration......these guys have more time and money into these cars than most would have into building 3 hot rods.....It's really something to be admired and respected. They are saving the past for future generations to enjoy and learn from.

Hagen-Hotrods is right on all points.
No matter what kind of car event you go to there will always be some jerkoffs that show up with cars that don't meet the intended criteria.
I have no problem with "spectators" driving whatever they want. Thats obviously none of my business how someone gets to an event.
The thing that irks me is when someone like Pete Eastwood and the rest of the Horseless Carriage Club puts such an effort into an event just to have some folks "crash the party".
Yesterday there were some cars that got into line that clearly were not the types of vehicles that the event was intended to honor. The new Mustang Shelby(...sorry guy, that ain't a real Shelby), a few that were street rods with steel wheels (sorry guys, thats not a traditional period correct hot rod) and some "R" rods that always make everyone cringe.
Each year Pete Eastwood gives the same speech at the "drivers meeting" about "do's" and "don'ts" and yet there will alway be those that the rules just don't apply to...just ask 'em.
After going for years, I have learned to ignore the annual problem. I look at the club members and Eastwood and they don't seem to get bothered by it, so thats good enough for me.
All the organizers want to do is see old friends, old cars, and enjoy the cruise on a beautiful SoCal day. They don't let the few spoil their fun, they just enjoy the event.
My hats off to all who put this event on. They do it with the right spirit and for the pure joy of it.
Great event every year and a super bunch of folks! Thanks!

Sorry if my car offended anyone. I think that I was driving one of those "Rat Rods". I think of my car as a home built hot rod. I don't have allot of money but I do enjoy this hobby. The people at the gate did not mind taking are money and letting us in. I had a good time seeing nice cars and meeting good people. Also I think that my car looks pretty good considering that I work on it from my wheelchair.

We went and had a good time, we saw beautiful cars that inspired us, we enjoyed each others company, met new people and we left. Nobody was there to direct parking( I see an opprtunity for next year) or offend anyone.

    Will go again next year.

    here's my rat?

This show is fast becoming one of my favorites, mainly because of the refreshing lack of egos and attitude.

For what its worth, I think that the old rivalry between hot rodders and restorers has become a thing of the past. At this point, a lot of people have both a hot rod/custom and a stock classic car. (Some lucky SOBs have several!) Pete Eastwood is certainly a perfect example of somebody that has an interest in both. Eric Vaughn (who was riding a bitchin' old Indian at the show) is another.

Most importantly, I think everybody realizes that its just a pleasure to see any old piece of machinery still on the road, stock or modified. Why be fussy?

I started attending that event with my 1912 Ford in the early 1980s when Pete's father Doug and his uncle Warwick (Both RIP) were running it. For a few years the event always ended in Warwick's garage where we sipped adult beverages until the evening hours. Another member of the So Cal HCCA, Earl Snodgrass (recently RIP) lived in General Pattons home in Pasadena and had an amazing collection in an underground garage. That was always great fun. It has always been a great event and one that I need to fly back for one of these years. Thanks for posting the photos. Alot of those cars I remember from 20 years ago-nice to see they are still on the road.
