A Couple of months back I purchased a steel lightened flywheel from SO Cal Sac via Ebay for my 8BA.Their listing stated they fit all Flatheads 32-53.We installed it and noticed it was hitting the back of the block and didnt know why.We finally figured out they had sent out a 59AB flywheel.Up until this point I didnt know there was a difference.I called So Cal yesterday and they told me the guy who handles flywheels was busy and he would call back. Two hours later I finally called back, I was told I needed to speak to the owner Joe who wouldnt be back on until the next day mid afternoon.I finally called Speedway Motors and got a flywheel coming 2 day aired because we need it.Called So Cal today and told them I just need to return it.They told me Joe wasnt going to be in at all today and asked what engine I had.I told him an 8BA, I said ,you guys sold me one for a 59AB and its advertised on your website and Ebay listing to fit all flatties. He then said the ebay listing says 48 and earlier and I didnt read it..I looked on their current Ebay listing and now they changed it to where it doesnt mention 8BA's at all. However, their website http://www.socalsac.com/sf-flatheads/lightened-flywheel still says 38-53.. I have the listing printed out from April of this year where it clearly states it fitting all flatheads, I emailed it to them as an attachment.I was told I could return it but have to pay a 20% restocking fee and only get store credit! I have attached the listing adverts for you guys to see..Kinda F'ed up if you ask me...

I amazed with the economy in the tank how many businesses still jerk people around on returns. Good service will bring that customer back again and again, but being tight will get the bad word spread around a lot faster. If their parts are so great they will surely sell them to someone else.

I did that at a local parts house with a Ford FE starter at 2 AM in the rain on a Sunday, the drive made a great handle!

Hopefully, you paid via credit card - if so, contest the charges.

    what a drag

really tuff these days to get a company to stand behind what they print, and sell

e-bay and pay pal are not on your side..ever..not for the buyer or seller..
the only side they are on is their own..period

I cant beleive that you need to talk to the owner to return a part that was the wrong part to begin with.

That's funny.....but So-Cal Sacramento isn't exactly in the "best" part of town. (wink, wink) The MAN is always on the prowl.....;)

  14. Sorry to hear that Marc. I don't get it, if you're in business you want return customers. Right? At our shop we bend over backwards to keep people happy with our work to the extent that we will fix something that wasn't really our fault. We have a very good rep. in the area.
