My internal voice pronounces it Doan, with the E being silent.. But if I try to search using Google microphone it only gives me the right results when pronounced Dun Spencer..?
I have a relative who's name is Doane and he pronounces it Doan-e, the "E" is not silent. When we were kids I was taught his name was like Doan's Pills except with a E on the end. Doane Spencer may very well be different,he was on the left coast and we are on the right coast.HRP
Per Neal East it's pronounced like tone, silent E. But don't feel bad I had always thought it was just a different spelling of dew-wayne
Not to hijack this thread but is Ak Miller pronounced like ack or is it A-K? And is that his real name? I read some of these names and don't know how they're pronounced.
Somewhere in the distant past , I asked the same question here on the HAMB...The answer I got from some one who professed to have known him , said it was " Doh - Ain " .... If I should meet him in some afterlife , I'll just wing it and call him Mr.Spencer !!! Stan
While we're on the subject, what's the correct pronunciation of (Pete) Champouris? Most pronounce it with the 's' on the end and 'ch' on the front ( "champ pour es") while I always wondered if it's more of a French sounding 'sh' with a silent 's' at the end ("sham pouree")?
Somehow I always pronounced it (internally) correctly. Now Do-aine looks right. Thanks a lot OP. Ha, ha. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
