I have the Haywire kit on the 62.
Like it, instructions were good enough for me to follow, and that is saying something.
Enjinjoe sells a kit, Kwikwire, I believe it is called.
he has used several. He may give you a great deal.

I will be happy to attend if my work schedule allows.

I have an 18 circuit Painless in the 41.

It is WAY overkill but I won it back in my NSRA days.

I have installed a Ron Francis kit and hated the thing like genital warts. Way too many connections to have to make and it was impossibel to make a decent looking harness out of it with the wires coming straight out of all four sides.

I would have to vote Painless or Haywire, but I don't care what it is.

Mainly just looking for an excuse to come to Kansas City.

just remember, every wire has TWO ends.if you keep that in mind you can't go wrong [IMG]

4. To Ron Francis defense, the newest generation of Express systems pack the same amount of circuits in about a 1/3rd smaller panel than the old AP-97

If money were no object (menaing I bought a large panel), I would buy the Centech that Ryan mentioned in his first post. Very compact and mice design.

Wish I could attend this scam but I gotta go out to the west coast in April...
I've always used an existing fuse panel and harness from a donor car or just wired from scratch. The pre-wired, store-bought harness with all those pretty markings would spoil the livin shit outa me.
Ahem, how much can I get one of those painless kits for? A 14 circuit panel would be plenty for my 41 Poncho with one wire alternator, pontiac V/8 and will add a/c later. NO power windows or seats but Sony stereo with remote mounted c.d. changer and 250 watt amp...all behind the seat where the battery lives....

Well, dude,
You name the time and place and I'll be there.
I've got a Painless in the '49 and it all works.
I used a simpler wiring for the '54 and no problems.
Yeah, I'll be there you newbie...

Ya gotta do this tweaker-style.

Use 200 feet of speaker wire.

Use an old broken alarm clock as a fuse block.

If you don't have any superglue, use Alligator clips to ground stuff.

It'll be easy to diagnose problems. You won't have trouble figuring out what color the old wires are...They'll all be the same color! It'll make life MUCH easier! [IMG]

Well Ryan, it wouldn't take a party for me to wire this car for you! To bad I'm so far away. I can install any kit or build one from scratch (ala ratrodder), LOL. I am surprised by some of the comments. I have done several brands of kits and I will say Ron Francis was the best! The tech advise and help is excellent and the keep track of every component on each kit and the modifications done, so I can give them the serial and they know exactly what I'm looking at. I have never talked to Ron about the kits, I try to stay out of the advertising scene altogether. I have spoken to his daughter and she was more then helpful. I guess to each his own. I do prefer the technic of wiring from the accessory to the fuse panel. That makes it easier when doing some custom work. Also for the beginner it is easier to look at a panel and mount it and then bring the wires to the box. Looking at a fuse box with a big spagetti roll attached is irritating. Just my opinion. 16. when is a wiring harness a wiring harness?I dont call a box filled with 57 seperate rolls of wire conveniently numbered 1 thru 57 a wiring harness.....Oh and it cost 580 dollars........[EFI]....so a certain wiring guy whose harness is named after him ,is not my pick of the litter.I felt a little misled-JUST MY OPINION...... I'll second choprods. I had a wiring experience with the exact kit on the exact car (I think?) he speaks of. This thing was stupid. I'm obviously no wiring guy (I did do my '38 with my pops), but that Ron Francis kit for EFI was terrible.
