And I have a few questions......I need the sill plates for the interior. Anyone know if these are Lincoln-specific or would ones out of a 49-51 Mercury fit as well? Anyone have a set for sale? Or 49 or 50 Lincoln? Also, is there a source for front signal lenses? It has been a long time since I bought a car that I didn't need a tet**** shot to work on it and I (and the wife and kids) absolutely love this thing. I will not take any credit for the build as the guy who did this has more talent in his little finger than I have in my whole body. Built right and runs even better!
Very little support for these models in the aftermarket. There is a company in California that specializes in them I believe. I'll post the info later today most likely. EDIT correction
I don't have any leads for you , unfortunately , but I will say - that's a cool ride . Now - back to your regularly scheduled program
Here's a few more pics. Haven't had much time to take any real good ones yet as I've been too busy driving it. It's not very traditional underneath - Nova Sub, 350/350, ps, pb, Chevelle rear end, and all new wiring throughout. Needs the interior finished - headliner, door panels and rug yet. The lakes pipes are hooked up and uncorked!
Welcome to the owners club! Door sill plates from a 49-51 Merc will fit, but original Lincoln sill plates have a big "L" stamped on the plates while Mercury have a "M". Turn signal lenses are rare but they come up on Ebay now and then.
I would say almost everything from the firewall back... For instance the position of the steering wheel is not the same as on Mercurys, it is 1 3/4 inch closer to the door (due to bigger engine/wider frame the steering box is not in same position) therefore a Mercury dash will not bolt in in a Lincoln without changes (I found that after after trying...). Otherwise most things are similar, and the Lincoln is a bit more luxurious with center arm rest in rear seat and "dash extensions" to the doors.
Congrats on your new Lincoln. Really a cool car. Be sure and buy these two manuals as they contain all you will need to know about L and Ms. Available in reprints and CD.
There's a company in New Jersey that makes sill plates just like the original ones from the factory. I bought at least 8 sets so far for my Mercs. Now .. that being said he makes new ones for the Lincolns. Phone # 973-423-1196 or email ...doorsills@gmail.com hopes this helps.
So are the lakes your only exhaust then ? how obnoxious is it then I've played with the idea of doing the same since my options are limited with no space to go out the back but I'm afraid it would get old quick. And I too am running a 350 Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It's loud, but there's Y-pipes and full exhaust out the back if I choose to run the caps. I haven't put a lot of miles on it yet - still ironing out some suspension problems, but I only live a block away from the local police staion and no complaints yet...
Nice Looking Link, just Drive it till you Start doing any Mod. to it make a List & do them 1 at a time.! Just my 3.5 cents Live Learn & Die a Fool
Believe it or not the mercury pieces will fit no problem ( certain pieces are interchangeable) . I have a 1949 Lincoln EL coupe with all of the parts and pieces ( minus the original drive train that is) If you're interested. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
