Just send it down the road and find a 36 roadster or something, gotta be one in a garage in your neck of the woods.........

  5. save that showerbase for sure ... sure he wasn't makin a vega prototype ?

  6. I stopped by Don's tonight to return those pictures after making copies. I asked him some questions about the car and BS'd with him for a while. He said someone broke in a few years back and stole the deck lid. During our conversation I asked about what dash he planned on using and he replied "well the dash is in it". I tild him it was gone and he said maybe it got stollen too. It was a plated 40 Ford dash!!! Maybe (fingers crossed) it is in the garage still. I am heading back over this weekend to sift through the mountains of shit in hopes of finding anything else for it.

    Chris,

That's a crazy, amazing project. Good luck! I vote for taking it back to what it was and 86-ing those welded-over fenders.

And, dude, you totally scored hard on that steering wheel with the intact horn ring. Those are unobtanium, unlike Crestliner wheels now (sort of).

If you get tired of that wheel, let me know ;)

  8. So are you going to go back and see what he's got??? Hahaha...!

  21. Part of the deal with me buying the 36 is I had to help Don clean his garage and get his Vette inside. I agreed mainly because the poor guy needs help doing it. I spent half the day today cleaning out his shot hole garage. I did find some more 36 parts as well as some other cool trinkets, but most of it was pure junk. Glad to get it over with :D

Heres some pics of "Le Don", now tucked away in his garage

    Cool find, Chris....

So, I just read through most of this thread.
By looking at the '36, Corvette, house, stories, etc., this is obviously one odd/interesting old dude.
It kind of makes me wonder what he looks like. Today. WITH his clothes on.

gotta say for that car being buried under all of that crap it really held together nicely. If that was some modern piece of tin, Id be shocked if you could even tell it was a car. Nice score. The owner sounds like he is full of awesome stories as well.

  24. Picture an 87 year old man with white hair, 5 foot tall and about 80 pounds!

He's no dummy. When he saw you he knew he found the perfect candidate to clean out his garage... someone twice his height and weight. That happens to me too... come to think of it, I may be a dummy. :D
