I know NOTHING about ramblers, but just looking at that, surely even if you bought it and it was rusted beyond a hope, all the jewelry on it would get you your money back.

from what I can see you have front and rear bumpers grille badges, headlight surrounds, chrome windscreen surround front fenders , door handles, taillights, and then what ever is inside that is still good.

To me ,it has the face only a mother could love, but someone out there wants those bits. So if its a unibody and too far gone you will be helping out a fellow car guy if you part it out.

This doesn't mean it can't be done but you have to look at the fact that the car will not be worth the amount of time you have in it. for one thing its a rambler for another thing it's a 4 door mine is a wagon not worth what i have in it but i like the car so it's worth it to me.

The car looks solid. If you like Ramblers screw what the other guys are saying! Look at the "frame" rails real good. If they aren't rusted all the rust underneath isn't hard to fix. The main place to check out is right behind the front wheel wells (ala Gerg's car). SOME rust through there is fine. Easiest fix if rust isn't as bad as Gerg's is to clean good then fiberglass over on the inside (2-3 layers of 'glass) then spray good with undercoating on the outside. Mud gets up in the pinch weld in that area and stays, trapping moisture and eventually causing the seam to rust through. Unless real bad it's not a big deal -- not a stressed area.

I wouldn't spend a lot restoring the car as you'll have way more in it than it's worth. But if you plan on making a decent driver out if it that's a different story! Junkyard seats, swap engine and trans (ladder bars and pre 92 Ford Ranger rear axle, or deep wheels and Ford Explorer/92+ Ranger 8.8" axle). Would make a cool cruiser even with the little 196 it has stock. Won't win any stop light drags, but will dependably push it at 60-65 mph all day long. Will just take 20-30 seconds to get up to that speed!

If you need any help on specifics let me know! I'm real familiar with the older Ramblers -- most of my AMCs have been 66 and older. Suspension parts aren't hard to find, just not at the local auto parts stores. Kanters and the AMC vendors have every part needed to rebuild the front suspension.
