True, I am sure that kind of thing does happen and could have actually happened in this case as well. But, I still think it is much more likely to just be BS talk. Respectfully, an Econoline pickup is a little different than an old Corvette and considering this guy's obvious effort to find info about it, etc, I suspect all his true friends knew about it as well and should have been given the opportunity to get it from the start if that was the case, especially considering the apparently quick turn around he had anyway. If he had already had this a for a decent period of time and then I would say, yeah, he did a friend good. But, either way, I don't think what he did was bad. He found a cool old car that was basically rotting away, saw the value in it bought it and then resold it to his "friend" and probably made a few bucks. Personally, I don't really see anything wrong with that. If he did pass it on to his friend and gave him a good deal, then great. But, I still sort of doubt it, but doesn't matter really.

  3. So people are mad because he went and bought a cool old car that he had to ask to get a value for, and then sold it to his friend who helped him pull it out of the spot where its been resting for only god knows how many years....for what he bought it for....

I have done that. I have been both the buyer and seller. I got a really nice 78 Z28 that I ended up getting for $1000 a few years ago, that my friend bought off me right away for.....get this....$1000 because it was just like the one he used to have. I passed my screaming deal onto him.

And I have begged cars off of friends. I got a 68' Dart GT convertable off of a friend. He had just bought it and as soon as I saw it I had to have it, so he sold it to me for the $1500 he paid for it. I ended up selling it back to him several years later after I did some work to it so I could cruise in it....for $1500.

Why so many people have gotten their panties in a bunch is beyond me.

  4. I just sucks he asked what it was worth, but didn't let us know how close the guesses were.

Why so many people have replied with publishable novels that don't friggin get it is beyond me...so don't feel left out.

He asked publicly for values, a bunch of ppl spent time to help, then when asked what happened with it replied with a shitty "I dont have to tell you" attitude. Simple and plain thats a snotty way to handle yourself. Its not only what he said, its how he said it. If the folks here "didn't see the need to help him" get educated on the value, he probably would have passed it up. There is a difference from "Id rather not say" and "I don't feel I have to".
