You want your answer, get some one to take a video of you riding the Triumph make sure it is a sunny day or it wont start, then have a look at the video and you will notice you look like a DORK or a dog fucking a football. Keep the Olds it is KOOL.
I tell you what bro, you find me a late 40's pre unit trump that is clean as a pin for 5K and Ill give a sizable finders fee. good thing its impossible cause my ass is broke seriously guys know what you are talking about before you open up here, we are not discussing a 69 daytona with a shitty bolt on hardtail we are talking about what looks to be a very dialed pre unit trump. Its like these assholes I dealt with when I was selling my sliding rag vw, "man that things only worth 3k, hell I saw a convertable on ebay go for $2500." "what year was it?" "72, whats the difference its a bug?" GIGANTIC DIFFERENCE. its like comparing a Model A 5w coupe to a 32 5w coupe, one year difference but what a huge one it is...
any old vehicle is prone to break down, period. However learn about your shit and dial it in. a good friend of mine 3 years ago road a knuckle head chopper from canada to north carolina then to sturgis then to so-cal in 2 months time and never got left on the side of the road, you know why? because he learned how to maintenance his wheels. hop in a mid fifties olds and drive across the country with out doing any maintenance and let me know how it works out for you... once again learn what your talking about. is a 48 triumph a brand new gold wing? no... but that olds aint no damn honda either.
I've ridden too many miles on bone jarring bikes over the years. And there are way too many disrespectful fools out there these days! If I had to choose one or the other I'd definately take the car. But if ya could pick up the bike too that would be swell!!!
trade the oldlady for the bike instead.. that way you got the olds AND the triumph.. and no one bitching about ither one. win win man.. lol
Olds... but then again horses for courses over here the triumph is nice but not rare (was looking at a string of very nice vintage bikes at an autojumble on sunday for very little moolah) whereas the Olds over here would turn heads like a topless Marylin Monroe and cost a fortune. I guess its the different stuff that makes us go 'woah' but if 'her indoors' dosen't like it, then the handbrake is on!
is that one of those spherical shaped oil tanks? that ruins it for me, otherwise i'd be all for the pre-unit.
I personaly would keep the car having nothing to do with what the wifey mentioned. 4dr Hardtops make awesome family cruisers. As do '49 Lincoln Cosmos with Suicide Doors If she wants to have equal say, I say "Grab A Wrench Darlin"
keep the car youll be happy you did later besides if you wiped out on the bike and it didnt kill you she would. expiriece talking .
well well i dont the cash to put out on just buying the bike thats why i want to trade only .... but i love my wife and family more then a bike . i have had bikes before and wife would freak out every time i went out there is no need to do that to her again ..... also the other car in the driveway are my brothers 50ty and my good friend 51 chevy there are 3 more you guys can't see that are not mine also ..me and the wife only have 2 cars the 56 and a 1994 olds and we both have job so one car and bike will not work BUT DAMNIT THE BIKE IS COOL ...and the best trade offer i havd had yet .
I still remember that metality my money my stuff. If you live under the same roof share food, gas, lights, etc. Any money you spend she spent. Money for the ride is one less day at the resort or burger instead of steak friend. Don't get me wrong there were women in my youth that were just along for the ride but they weren't my wives and they knew where they stood prior to throwing a leg over the fender.
wow, your father in law wanted YOUR car once so now you can't ever do what you want with it? hmmm, I'm sorry for your loss and I mean no disrespect but that is whack... trade the car . You still got sleds right? next......
its more that he just passed away in oct its really soon for ... he was one of my best friends a great guy and one hell of a fisher . i think if this was later next year i would do it
