My father and I went to a small auction last Friday just for kicks. There It was mostly junk(and I mean shit I would throw away type junk), but I did buy a NOS SBC oil pan for $5, anyways at the very end of the auction sat this big ol' International truck. My father was looking it over pretty good, I could tell he wanted it but knew he didn't need another project laying around, So he didn't bid on it. The auction only went up to $300 and the owner "bought it back"

When I pulled up to the shop today the sucker was sitting there, haha. He said he got it for $500 delivered. Supposedly the story goes it was a farm truck that always sat in a barn, then another guy bought it to restore and just put it in another barn. Long time passes and the scrapper gets ahold of it, decides it's too nice to scrap and now here it sits...

Plans are to build a rollback body for it, and find a belly button 350/TH400 combo. Nothing set in stone yet.

  4. I was going to suggest a big block, or late Caddie for the torque. But then I thought about what gears are probably in the rear end and the 350 will be just fine. Great score!

  5. I am thinking a beautifuly stained & heavy gloss on light wood stakeside....???

Cool Korn Binder! She must have run well into the '60's to acquire those "West Coast" mirrors.
A 350 built like a 4X4 engine will work in it. Build for torque, not revs.
Looks like 7.50x20 tires? You can go to 8.25's with the same rims and get some more speed. Personally, I would find a newer 2 or 3 ton and swap in both axles and new style wheels. Most tire shops chase you away when they see those old three piece rims.

  8. Reardon had a steel deck up there he got from the guy across the road when that guy moved, I think it's a tilt, don't know if it's worth even asking for a price on it though.

Looks like a nice builder one way or another, even if you put the cab on another chassis.

Great score. I kind of wonder how obe of those binders would look with a 40 ford front cap. The binder has a nicer look to it than a ford.

Ideally, If we could find a newer 1 ton - 1.5 ton chassis we would just swap the sheet metal.

Were going to make our own bed for it. Knowing my pops he'll want to go with aluminum diamond plate. Personally I'd like to keep it at "traditional or old school" as possible, Steel framing with wood deck.

Rollback would be great. Put a modern running gear under it. Those gears will kill you if you haul any distance. Nice old truck. Thanks for saving it.

You need to find a first gen Dodge/Cummins (89-93). As a donor, they are down to an affordable price range and still had old school Dana axles under them. A non intercooled one would be great in that application and would get over 20 MPG to boot

Neat. Glad to see it was saved. Can't believe a "scrapper thought it was too nice to scrap"!
Looks like someone missed placing a load; rt. rear cab corner has a couple of bucket teeth marks?

both upper cab corners look like that. The roof has a decent dent in it to. Oh well, its only metal. I took Gene Winfield's sheet metal class last month and he taught us how to "hammer the hell out of it"

  26. see if the engine will fire off, someone might be looking for a cheap runner to get a project rolling. besides it would be fun to cruise it around the property.

spark plug at cylinder#1 is broke off in the head, and the cylinder was left open for some years. The pistons are seized. Good boat anchor though...

Can you imagine riding around in this when this binder was 'state of the art'? Prolly 55 mph and a Cadillac ride..........those were the days. Good score on the heavy!
