So some of you know my roadtrip exploits where I did 12,000 miles in three months in a 64 corvair van. Well we got a invite to SEMA, and decided to do some paint touch up as well as a hardwood floor in the van to freshen it up a bit. Randy at Painthouse Tx did a amazing job of making me actually work for a change. Sorry for some of the grainy Iphone pics

The first stop was at Spectrum Powdercoating to drop off the bumpers that where previously painted to be coated.

Then over to Painthouse to start tear down and cleaning. Randy asked me if I have ever seen the Karate Kid? This started the wax on wax off faze of my work. I asked him how many times I had to clean it, and he asked me how many states I had been through......that should be enough times lol

While I was watching randy do all the bodywork my bed wood and parts bed kit came in

We where originally going to candy it blue, but it looked to hokey so Randy decided on using the same flat clear that the van has on it.

I asked Randy how many times I had to sand and apply flat clear and again he asked if I had seen the Karate Kid

then more wax on wax off

Darren Wenzel from Gasoline art came in to add a more vintage feel to the van than before

Time to clean the window from the long roadtrip

Robert replacing my windshield gasket n my 47 year old windshield......I was a little nervous.......and at a car show none the less

bumpers back in from the powdercoater

Floor looks great... as does the rest of the van. Is there any storage space beneath the wood?

Oh sure, just twist the knife a little deeper Coby. How about we ask if it's going to have custom drawers lined with rare african mahogany too. :D

Thanks everyone, and yes it does have storage underneath the floor since we raised it up to the bottom of the transaxle cover. We didnt have time to put the drawers in before SEMA, but hope to have it done after Autorama in Houston.

The wife couldnt come because she is back in Houston trying to cure Diabetes right now, and she just got a fellowship for her research so alot more work for her.....she will be at Autorama though.

I start driving back from Cali wednesday with a stop in Scottsdale to shoot a frame of a
unfinished truck, and the two ring brothers mustangs.

So this van is so sweet. I just thought that I had to put that out there for you. And more than that, I think that it is pretty epic that you took such a sweet ride on such a long journy, but more than that, when it came time to fix it, you didn't bitch, you just rolled up your sleaves and went to work. I think that you are the epitome of Hot Rodding, like you derserve an award... and a trophy... some cookies... and a hug... from Ryan. Yeah, that sounds good. You should talk to Ryan about this. An anual award...:D
