Speaking of replaced parts, my T is registered as a 1923 Ford model T. The only original part is the frame, and it's been highly modified (boxed, stepped etc... incidentally, l overheard a father tell his son at a show, that the only original part was the body??

  2. "If you think of grandpa every time you pick up the hammer, then its still gramps hammer."
That's it exactly, and probably the only reason most people would have fixed the hammer in the first place.
And if it was grandpa's Lincoln Zephyr ... o_O

  4. I’ll take a pic of my Nonno’s ( grand fathers ) hammer. It went from Italy ( Abruzzo) to Argentina ( Buenos Aries) to Toronto Canada.
The handle has been replaced many times over the years. But the head is original.
    I’ll take a pic tomorrow.

I have always wondered why fibergl*** bodies, or ever a really nice Brookville bodies on repop ch***is are allowed to carry ***les that say anything other than what the car actually is. It may look like a 32 ford but IMO It should be ***led as a 2018 Brookeville; Gibbons or whoever the body mfg was. I think they cracked down on the Motorcycle builders a long time ago and started issuing builder ***les.

The problem with registering a car the year it was built is that in some places the vehicle has to have all the safety and emissions equipment required for the year on the ***le.

So a “replica” of a 32 Ford built with aftermarket parts and registered as a 2018 would have to have airbags and catalytic converters etc.

This is a Huge thing in the Willys Jeep world. Both because of swapped parts and reproduction parts. Guys are always swapping grills and trying to p*** a CJ-2A as a MB (the WWII Jeep) But when someone takes a Willys Grill and maybe a Hood and put it on a tube frame crawler ch***is and then calls it a Willys Jeep I find that a rather obnoxious stretch. On the other hand mu own Willys is originally a CJ-2A but has parts on it from 1946 2A to 1972 CJ-5 28 different jeeps parts make up the parts on my Jeep as well as 75% of the Tub being either new repop body panels or scratch build like the whole floor and the Rear Wheel houses I made from sheet. Yet if you stand 10 ft from my Willys and know your Willys well you would think it to be a 49-52 CJ-3A Look at the dash and you would instantly know its a 2A look at the frame and you would think its a CJ5. I will never refer to my Willys as Restored or rare or original or anything but a Build or maybe a Restomod. Course then this Willys will most likely never be for sale. Its already been in the family since 1962 and there 2 generations already looking at getting their hand son it when I am gone LOL.

The way I typically look at it is whether the car came from the lineage of the original car, unless it has been replaced entirely, is still an actual old car. For example, a Model A with new ch***is and engine and patched up original body is still a Model A.

The reason behind that here in GA is the car has to look like what the registration says it is. If the cops put out an APB on a 2018 Gibbon, they wouldn't know what they were looking for when they saw it.

If that APB went out for a 2018 Gibbon every $250,000.+ Super Car would get pulled over.:D:D:D:D:D

  13. If you want it and it looks like it , it is if you believe it is. Ask any guy who bought a replica Duesenberg if it's a Duesenberg I bet he says "Yes".

Trigger's broom, watch the clip, apologies for not being 100% on topic but it illustrates the phenomenon perfectly.
