This is my first major project, a 1960 f-100 I pulled out of the woods. The story goes something like this: I was helping my buddy HeX out with his motorbike when I mentioned something about wanting a truck project to throw a bunch of time and money into. He said he would keep his eye out for me, next day he calls and says he remembered his father in law has a truck sitting in the woods. A little sketchy on the details, but a truck none the less. He negotiates a very reasonable price and the deal is struck. I ask another good friend to help me out with his truck and my boss' trailer to go retrieve it. Long story short it's home now and in process. It's going to need some TLC, but it is a good starting point. I got the interior out and the rotten gas tank and plan on pulling the bed front fenders and motor and trans this weekend. Here are some pics.
and its got a y block! get that baby goin then post up a vid so i can be jealous i don't own one love these trucks.
Looks like a good truck. Should be fun. I wanna get another. Someday... Try to keep the ol' Y-block, if your good to them they'll be good to you.
Thanks everybody, my plans right now are to definitely keep and rebuild the Y-Block, pull the body and fix the rotten areas, powdercoat the frame, drop it about 4 inches and drive the piss out of it. johnathan, I already joined the group, and s****iron I'm planning on making a new tank out of stainless, but thanks for the offer. I'll post pics as I make progress.
Nice truck! Nothin raps like a Y-block with dual gl***packs. A side note: an old guy showed me once, when you get a car up on jack stands like you have yours, to shake it good and hard from side to side. If it's going to fall, you can stand there and watch it go, rather than lay there and watch it squash you like a bug.
