I only request that it be planned so that it's not right after school gets out in the spring, or right before it starts in the fall. I couldn't make it this year because us teachers have to report to work on the friday before the drags, and being new I didn't want to take a personal day in the first week.

I'm up for it again. I thought Mo-Kan was a great location. But what if the HAMB drags migrated to a differant state every year, find a cool old race track in every state.

    Just an idea.

i think alot of the draw is that it was at mokan, right dab in the middle of the u.s. i know im fine with a 7-9 hour drive to the HAMB drags, but 12 to 20 isnt gona work for alot of people.

i think keeping it central is a big part of its success

    just my two cents

The problem that looms over the floating state deal is, someone different has to do all the legwork in each state.

There are a lot of willing people who would volunteer but some may not realize how much work is involved.

  6. Yeah Root'= also I'd think as rare as a track would be in different states it would be rarer to find track owners as willing to let us slip thru the red tape that insurance and laws require -like Mokans staff and facility obliged us last year.........

  8. Yea, MOKAN was relaxed... I think they would be against someone coming out in a total piece of shit, and rightly so... but cars like sbcdrag's three point FED are just plain COOL to see run... I wonder if we could recruit more of the cacklefest type cars to come out and run? The midwest is FULL of old drag cars that can't run anymore because of restrictions... it would be neat to see some of this stuff come out to streatch their legs once a year.

I agree Sam. I know of a few that have the "old hoop" cages but they are mainly used as displays now.
Exhibition only type runs might be allowed. Maybe a solo run?

Brother, I'll be glad to help you organize a tour. We can schedule a couple weekends during the Winter to drive the area and figure out a course.Sam

My last visit with Carl, the owner of MOKAN, he said his summer schedule was wide open and we could have our pick of several dates. Major conflicting events locally will be the NSRA event in Springfield, Americruise stop in Springfield, and the Hot Rod Power Tour. I need to plan my vacation too, as I only have June, July, and August off.

BTW, Ryan I am voting for Early June. Less chance of a rainout and it isn't too hot yet. How bout Memorial Day weekend? That way guys could travel and not have to eat up vacation days? Is the track even open that weekend?

How 'bout somewhere 'round the Forth of July?

Alot of people have time off then anyhow, and it'll give us a month or so to recover from Billetproof Michigan!

After watching the HAMB Drags video at Denise's place this Saturday, I can't wait to make the show this coming Summer..but I'm throwing out a vote for early or mid July if anyone is keeping score!!!

(You mini-bike guys with your dinky tires are in real trouble...I'll spank ya on the top end!)

And the lightweight (rusty!) Chevy oughtta hold it's own against other mean buzzin half dozens!

  19. Ah, just tell me when and where. I'll bring the 2 minute Galaxie (and perhaps a very quick ol' stude). One or the other ought to be entertaining.
Wouldn't miss it for the world. [IMG]
Hey do I gotta have an emergency brake to pass tech. [IMG]

WZJUNK, didn't think about that. 4th of July is usually booked for us...family get togethers etc.
I know there is no way to meet everyone's needs but it would be nice if all of you just schedule around me. [IMG] [IMG]

I vote for the same weekend as last year. I can take the heat but rain at a drag strip is no fun.

Man that was too hot....rain shouldn't be a problem in June should it? Usually around here, it dries up til Sept.
When the fair comes to town the rain follows. The cars would run better too if it weren't 110 degrees.

I'm still laughing because Sam called Missouri "back East". Hahaha. I'll be there again.

Believe it or not it does rain a lot here in June and it could rain here on any day that we pick. I think I will look up some weather stats on the net and see what the records say. I will try to do that tonight.

  25. Grimmy, when we were kids... we would take yearly trips to Kansas to see my dad's side of the family... and to us, it was "back east"... [IMG]

What about the mini bike thing?? I think it would be fun to see more of them racing...

I saw someone runnin' a mini bike on the video...thought it'd be cool to run mine down the track a few times! Go through the motor again this Spring and turn up the wick a little. I put it together on the conservative side this Summer...set the timing staright up and ran it a little fat.

Maybe shave the head, do a little port work, add a better carb and advance the timing (adjustable on a Tecumseh) and RULE the other two-wheeled terrors this time around!!

Whenever, whereever. I'm there. and will give up just about all my other plans for the summer if it falls on a weekend where something else is planned. We all realize there will never be one weekend that suits everyone. Ryan will have to make an executive decision and hopefully the majority of the folks can make it.

Memorial weekend I plan on being at the NSRA Springfield nats with WZJunk, MoJunk, and the rest of those handsome MO boys. [IMG] BUT, if thats the weekend that is choosen, I'm at MoKan. [IMG] whenever it is, is can't come soon enough for my taste.

    Ha Ha Ha!!!

Well, Ray...I could shave MY head for better aerodynamics, and go on a diet to trim the portly rider!!!

How about an unlimited class? I'll race you for pinks? Oh yeah...I need a couple of motors. [IMG] I might have some sort of bike whipped up for the drags...and to tool around Bonneville. The car comes first of course.
