No more event coverage for me. For several years I have posted Australian events that have generally been well received here as it gives a chance for USA rodders to see what we are doing here. Up until recently there has been no problem. I think I have been a member since 2006. I always got positive comments and thanks from other HAMBERS.
With the heavier policing of the rules (which is the prerogative of the site owner) and I have no problem with that.
I recently posted pictures of a local annual run here and admittedly I didn't edit all of the pictures and included some off topic but after reviewing my shots there was probably 25 out of 180 that were not suitable. The history of hot rodding in Australia is not as early as in USA and probably really only started in the late 50's but mostly in the early 60's. So we don't have the "traditional" aspect as much here although a lot of cars being built here follow a "traditional style". I would think that in Australia we would have only a couple of hundred original hot rods and that is being generous.
From what I see on other threads they seem to include a lot of similar cars to what I posted ie newly built cars that look traditional but are very fresh. In some they show pro street, street rods and other styles. Maybe they don't all get the attention of the moderators. Here is one that includes a pro street 33/34 coupe, a Barry Lobeck roadster that looks more like a street rod and is a recent build and many others that were similiar to my pics. Not picking on this member. I was just looking at the post today and thought it showed some nice cars and I wasn't offended.

Anyway this won't stop me from checking out the HAMB frequently as usual but I just won't be bothered with spending time uploading pictures and getting into trouble. Hope this doesn't give me more grief.

  2. I saw those pics, there was only a few as you say, but dirrectional mags and other modern stuff ain't welcome, and I know you know that.
Please don't throw your toys outer the cot over it, its just life.
I have posted **** that got deleted, I didn't get upset, just learned from it, and carried on.
You guys over the ditch are doing a fine job with the traditional side of things, and you have more old survivers than us over this side.
I like your pics, you do a great job, and I'd like to see you keep it up.
Just stick to the guidelines, don't worry what others get away with.
Life knocks you down sometimes, just Gotter jump back up, and shout...
    Where's the f#&kin party at?!

Most of us have been edited, deleted, or trashed. Ain't no big deal, you can edit yourself and carry on as usual, and nobody will know. Less to post, makes your posting easier.

well, glad that you will still be around. when I go to a show that has a variety of types of cars I try to just focus on pics of traditional style rides. sometimes something that is so well done, and not pre-66, that I will include in my posts. other may be rides that I like for myself, and just do not include them with other pics. stuff from the 60's is Cool.

If you don't get something deleted then you don't post enough. We all have. Some things just slip by and others don't.

Been a lot of changes over the years but one of the biggest changes are the more high dollar builds here than ever before. There are also more moderators here than ever before. As far as posting your pictures go, use your best judgement.

POR brother, press on regardless and cheer up down there !

I'm a fairly recent (signed up) member, so I don't recall your coverage, but I hope you stay active here, hate to lose people that actually contribute and not just hit the "like" ****on.
It's always cool to see what's going on, on your side of the pond.
    Stay encouraged and soldier on.

I think every post regarding a car or build with parts newer than 1965 on it should get sent over to dogfight. Then maybe it wouldnt be such a ghost town over there. It could be a great site but seems to be hardly used.
Needs a "builds" subforum over there as well.

  10. All right, clue me in. What and where is dogfight?

Go to the very top of the page and find the banner at the top right and you'll find it.

I think only a handful of cars on here meet true traditional status and that what kind of confuses me on this new code enforcement and where the line is/ should be drawn

  13. I think so as well!!

  14. Must be hard for the Moderators too, sometimes.
From what I gather, there's period correct cars, and traditionally styled cars, and nothing after 65. Seems simple enough, but you can get people mixing it up, for example,
Modern wheels on an old hot rod.
Still an old hot rod, but wheels ruin it for those who prefer period perfect. Anything old, but with visible modern street Roddy stuff ain't gona fly.
Its not complicated, mostly common sence, but I know what its like to be excited about something cool that your about to post, only to find its not in the right place.
No VWs, no rrs, no Mustangs or camaros, its all there in the rules.

I been here technically since the late 90s , Re registered in03 ..The rules have always been murky, I'm fine with a lot of different stuff, but if you want to cut to the chase traditional IS .....built using old methods and old parts.... That is the only thing I really know for sure....hell 10 yrs ago the hamb re-defined what a roadster supposedly IS( which btw I will NEVER agree on )

Please reconsider and keep posting, it gives us inspiration and an insight into rodding all around the world, ( enjoyed from the comfort of our own home).
We can't all get to every overseas event so I personally really appreciate the photos, as do most others.

I hope you keep posting, as it gives another perspective. In NZ and Aussie our old Rods used parts from cars that the guys in the US may never heard of, but they ARE traditional in our counties. I post a lot of pics here but am careful what I put up, focus on whats right and carry on. JW

Bingo. The moderation is bound to be "unfair" from time to time due to the prodigious content uploaded on the HAMB. Ryan has had to enlist more moderators in an effort to keep the board on topic, and surely some are more forgiving than others. Ryan has always cut a lot of slack, but he cannot be everywhere.

I think the take-home message is to self edit the blatant stuff as best you can, and to not take it personally when edited by the board. They are not picking on you, but are having to whip through a very busy digital maze, and doing the best they can.

You're no different than any of us. I've been here a long time. I've had lots of stuff deleted and boohoo'd. But that don't stop me from posting more junk. Gives Ryan something to do. [emoji15] We all like your posts. Swallow your pride and move on. Life's too short.

Your hotrod movement IS important---don't stop posting as most of us are interested. If you're catching a lot of **** over your posts, just get a bigger glove (catchers mitt).
