Yeah, I've done stuff like that before too. That's a little different though than some of the demands people have talked about on here.

Those are the best! I swear they just see the price and the make and stop reading. When I sold the F100 I can't count how many people asked me if it was drivable, when it clearly said in the add does not run!

I own a machine shop. Phone rings one day and this guy wants to know if I can "lathe" his wheels so the tires won't hit the rear fenders on his S-10.

I ask him if they're steel wheels and he says yeah. So I tell him I can give him the name of a guy about an hour away who can cut the centers out and relocate them. The guy is reasonable, does good work, and has easily modified over 10,000 wheels in the years he's been in business.

Nah, he doesn't want to get into anything that complicated. He just wants me to stick them in the lathe and shave some off the mounting face. So I ask him how much he needs to remove, knowing already I ain't about to touch them. He says 'bout 3/4 inch.

So I ask him if the metal in the center is about 1/8" thick. He says yeah. And I then say Well, if I face 3/4" off that you're not gonna have anything left but a big hole in the center of your wheels. He just sorta grunts Oh, and hangs up.

Some of 'em are just dumb beyond belief.

You know I have never thought about it that way but I guess it is a minefield! I guess it just takes the right buyer and seller to come together or someone goes away mad.

It sounds too much like dating...

It's all part of dealin', trying to get what you want. If you ain't got thick skin to deal with all types of buyers, you will be frustrated a lot. I find it's always best to be polite, even if you have to tell them that you aren't interested in the offer and don't want to sell the car that way. One time I was selling a pretty nice original 66 Olds 442 and in the course of "negotiations" with a kid he wanted to take $40 off for me to keep the battery because he already had one. When he came back to look again and had 2 buddies and they were talking how cool it was going to look with sidepipes, I had to politely tell them it was no longer for sale.
