I just saw that on another post and was wondering if you ever got rid of it.Hope everything works out. Motorcycles are fun too.
Make sure that you get CASH, not a check or cashiers check. I have heard too many Epay and Hemming's stories, so be careful. Chris Nelson Kansas

Chris Nelson ___________________________________________________________ Yes CASH there are a lot of scams at the moment where they pay you with a bank draught or some other type of bank cheque,It then turns ot that the cheque is stolen. When the bank gets the stolen cheque back they come to you for the money. It appears that even though you ask the bank "is this cheque ok" and it comes back YOU are liable for the money. Just be carefull dealing with people from overseas,we get them trying to buy from the UK in this manner all the time and a guy just recently got stung. But if you got cash congrats on the sale. john. I got those responses when I put parts on the Ford Barn website. Sounded too much like a form letter. Who the hell buys hot rod parts through a broker? Nobody I want to deal with! If it's that deal where you cash some fat check and then pass the bulk of it on to the shipper you are screwed - that's a scam that will leave you with NO CAR and NO MONEY when they reverse the charges on the check and you are left with the responsibility of paying it back. I don't think these scammers even care about the car parts, they just want some fool to pass their hot paper. Don't do it if it's not too late! They never came to look at the car right? Sounds scary!
What't the story on the 283/glide with wide whites. What size tires? How fresh is the engine? Can I hear it run, if interested?
be VERY careful ...that is a major scam over here at the moment.....there was a post raised on the uk nsra forum from a guy saying exactly what you just said (the broker even came from holland)....the car went...bankers draft was fake... CASH or nothing monkey
I sold an A cowl to a guy in Germany. He paid no problem - and was a pleasure to deal with - I shipped it directly to a broker of sorts. Just keep your wits and treat it like any other sale. Because that's really what it is. People that are overly paranoid just because it's overseas probably blur their licese plate number in thier posted photos too. Hahaha. Good luck
Well the DEAL is... supposedly a cashiers check. This place seems legit, I checked the website etc, but as a precautionary measure the check will be held 14 days, then I'll wait another 14 days before the car will even be shipped. The car won't be taken off the "secret car farm" until everything is clear and good to go. I don't know why these dudes buy through brokers either, I'd rather drive down a dirt road til I saw some old fart with some rusted cars out front to get my projects. Anyways, the 283/glide story... I bought for $500 from the old vato in the valley. He said it had some old race cam, headwork, and a fresh rebuild with probably less than 500 miles, the trans was gone-through as well. The motor sure looked like hell when i got it, but it had been sitting under a carport for the past 2 yrs, uncovered, but plugged up and sealed. I pulled it all apart, and found it's a Clay Smith grind, the heads have been rebuilt, new valves and some minor port work, the pistons were .30 over, and had fresh rings. Bearings and journals show no wear and look like it's barely been broken in. It's a long block right now, i have a new gasket set, but i've been waiting to paint it all up and get a intake/carbs for it along with some ramhorns. My brother went through the glide and said it was in great shape, has some old rare finned converter (aircooled). I plan to keep it for a while, in hopes I can come across a decent project that needs a powerplant. I'd like to find something that needs only that to be roadworthy, paint & body...I could care less. The whitewalls are old L78-15 Firestones that were purchased through a HAMBer. They are cracked all to hell, but look cool. Keeping those for a future project as well... I'll list the motor/trans here first if I decide to sell, as well as the tires... but we'll see... If you are in need of a 283, the guy I picked up mine from has SEVERAL from short blocks to complete motors. Cheap too, let me know if you're interested I'll give you his info...He's in Falfurrias, TX...about 75 miles southwest of Corpus Christi.
THC That place in Falfurias is like heaven. Sort of a south Texas Mooneyes, but more stuff. Swung by there last month on my way to pick up a roadster. Did you see his T with the flatty? Says he paid about 100 bucks to get the interior done in Mexico. Good luck on the transaction.
Maybe guys buy through brokers 'cos there nervous of sending money abroad to an unknown person - wondrin' if they'll ever see the car. With a broker, at least they'd have a face in their own country to "smash in" if it all goes wrong . Or like here, they might not be so good with the English language, and want someoneelse as a go-between. Be very careful anyway.
Crease, yeah that's Joe's place. I bought my car from him, he's got gobs of parts that he's willing to sell/trade shit for. He's a cool dude with lots of knowledge and some cool projects. I had his little website address somewhere but i can't find it. His little T roadster is pretty cool, runs like a beast. I haven't been down there in over 2 months since I've moved up here to Waco, but I plan on going down there over the holidays when I'm in Corpus Christi.
