Very cool! How do those pipes sound? I would like to do that to my falcon sometime. So the only clearance problem with the 250 was the aircleaner? I thought you had to do other modifications to get that engine to work on our cars, I have a 62 four door sedan BTW. If some air cleaner mods are all that is in order I can widen my bigger six engine search and that would be sweet.

    Thanks all!
Duece you got me wondering so I had to go back and double check the tag on the comet. According to the tag it is a 250 and for sure a 4 lug rear. I dont know much about 70's cars but maybe could it be cause it was the Maverick/Comet?
Garvinzoom: Yeah it went in real nice....very tight...but in! Even the alt I was sure was not going to fit because of were the battery box is. It cleared by about an inch. The only thing I am not sure of is if the wagons bay is a little bit bigger than the sedan. I dont think it is but that would be the only thing I would check first.

Shane..... One mans trash is my treasure! Thanks!

  7. VERY SWEET RIDE. I'M DOING A MILD CUSTOM '63 RANCHERO FOR MY SON. I SHOWED HIM THE PICTURE OF YOUR CAR. I THINK HE LIKES THE WAGON BETTER.

The freight would be the killer, these engines go for...$free$ .
I have sent a few to the scrap lately because no one wants them. All good runners.

Wow you guys thanks so much! I was feeling kind of shy to have even posted these. It really means alot. Cant wait to meet some of you at shows this spring!

On a side note, I keep seeing the Aussi's with visors on there wagons. Was that an option down there in the 60's? Never seen one here. How much do they go for?

we can still get them for the latest models!..it's a vseriously hot and sunny place here. Keep an eye on OZ ebay for them and yes they were an accesory item . Perhaps an OZ falcon fan can find a good one for you ,but again the freight is always a killer.

Mustang stuff, particularly 65-66, are either bolt ins or can be made to fit with little fabrication. Tons of reference materials and websites devoted to both cars.

Keep going, you will only get better.

  28. Pretty sweet!

I have been keeping my eyes open for a 2 dr falcon wagon for a long time and have not found one that was decent enough for a price I could afford.

Looks like you have jersey plates on that bad boy. Do they still make other people pump your gas for you there? I usually just drive though jersey without stopping on my way to my friends in Orangeburg.

Grrrl, you rock hardcore. Love the wagon, great workmanship, great ambition, and great TASTE.

As for the Comet rear ends, the Maverick and Comet to '72 with the 250 engine had the four lug hubs, but with the V8 style 8" rear in a four lug pattern. That makes this a pretty rare rear, only used two years, and popular for Falcon swaps if you want a big 6 or a V8 without swapping to five lug. In '73, 250 cars got the five lug pattern, still with the 8" rear, and in late '74, they all got disc brakes and five lug no matter what engine.

    Falcongrrl,

Tremendously impressive effort and a tremendously impressive result. You put a lot of us lads to shame. I've been wrenching on cars for almost 30 years and I still can't weld to save my life.

    Bravo.
