Got the new rear crossmember (for the QC) tacked in the frame, and put down a deposit on a Brookville '32 roadster body. Hopefully to be picked up in May in Paso !
And went for an awsome mountain bike ride on my new bike.

    We had a good weekend.

Dad ran brake lines while I FRENCHED MY ANTENNA! WOO HOO!!! It was my first shot at customizing but went remarkably well and turned out nice. I'll have to post pics next time I have my camera down there.

Then I did a bunch of practice welding which was fun.

Please post those photos. I'm really anxious to see the frenching. I've been practicing my welding too. You and I should collaborate on making a HAMB sign outta metal. If your interested, we'll toss around ideas at the Jalpoy Showdown.

Finally got around to listing the VW for sale on a couple of boards. Tried to plan garage lighting in the unlikely event that I actually put a lift in there. Can always dream. Got to get of my a** and get the Olds home.

We finally got the new engine in the f.e.d. fired off this weekend. Nothing like that sound especially under the awning ******* off the neighbors at 11am. That and the smell of nitro always brings a tear (or two) to my eyes.

  18. I got my chevy van tilt collum installed in my 55' panel, also finished the radio hole patch panel, fabbed a tunnel for over the transmission!

HRLC, can you give me the name & number for the Chromer in London? How long is there lead time? Thanks, Shaun.

Saturday went to a swapmeet and picked up a '30/'31 Model A pu cab. Needs lots of work but I'm excited about it. It'll be my first build.

Sunday cleaned up the garage and got to work on the new cab! :D

Inspired by Manyolcars' post quite a while back about making your own sheetmetal clamps, I decided to make some for myself.

I used copper coated "Hanger Strap" (from the plumbing section of the hardware store) because it is already full of 3/16" holes. I cut it into a slight V shape so that the narrow end can slip into the end of the tubing, but the wide end keeps the clamp together when not in use. The ID of the tubing is 9/16" and the widest part of the strap is 3/4" . Once ***embled, the strap can't slide through the tubing. The strap was silver soldered to the end of the bolt. I used 3/16" round rod for the pins.

    Ingredients:
9/16" ID tubing cut to 5/8" long
    1/4" X 1 1/2" bolt
    1/4" washer w/5/8" OD
    1/4" wingnut
3/16" rod cut to 1" long
Copper coated hanger strap cut to 3/4" long (distance between the larger holes)
    Silver solder
    Flux

I'm not really sure how many I made, but I do know that it was over a hundred. I didn't even realize how many I had made until I was done. Now I have enough to take to work, give to my Dad and have some in the garage.

Saturday - Worked on my 66 camper VW bus...finished installing new motor and did some wiring, painted shift rod, e-brake handle and turn signal switch and re-installed, Watched the kids. Installed new side step for double doors, cleaned out parts and stuff from inside of bus.

Sunday - Went to my shop and met 2xCrash there. Did some fabrication and paint prep on his 54 Plymouth. Prepped the inner fenders, column and misc. parts for paint and metal flake, showed off his newly painted flaked steering wheel and misc. interior pieces I got done for him the week prior. I cut and welded in a new floor section for his (HAMB provided :) ) shifter for his trans. Got new battery, pulled pedal floor pan to repair rust holes. Pulled seat from car so it would not catch fire. It was a productive day...spent the whole time m***aging the floor for the shifter/tunnel. Very happy with its results. :) ... Got home that evening, new VW motor not happy, idling badly and spitting oil.... :( got to pull the motor again and change some seals. :(

smoothened out a turbo 350, prepped my dads t bucket motor for paint

broke out the paint gun and shot a motor, ******, radiator, radiator shell, steering column, balancer, and motor mounts with PPG concept vintage red sunfire metallic, I hope the stuff holds up on the engines heat.

I started putting in my rubber kit and windows for my side gl*** in the Coupe. Also started converting my Coupe Rumble seat to trunk setup. Mounted my new license plate tag light. Cut out the old firewall and floorboard out of the 34 Ford truck I have started. Went and picked up another 32 Cab with Dirty2. Will show picks of the trunk as I progress and the truck cab

I finished up the brake lines and dropped the body back on the frame,,,did a little 3-pound hammer body m***age to the firewall so the valve cover would clear and cut the hole in the floor for the 5-speed shifter.

And I gave Dave a helping hand installing the front sheet metal back on his forty coupe and the drivers side rear fender HRP
