So, what did you like @ the roadster show?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Jun 16, 2007.

  1. LARS. Now that the Tulsa Plymouth thing has taken a back seat to the daily goings on. What did you guys/gals like there today? I fell in love with a purple 64 Elcamino with some of the best white scallops i've ever seen. Anyone get a pic of this one? It was in the swap area. I got one on my phone but have no idea how to get it somewhere useful

This did it for me..... When this A Coupe rolled in, it was so loud, sounded really good. The owner said they worked late nights to get it there, really well built car. I like the super rare winter grille.

I saw that thing. It was *****in. Is that a comercial 32 grill?

  7. I think you adjust it closed on cold days to warm up the motor like a thermostat. Not too necessary in SoCal, but elsewhere, much needed. Maybe an accessory type thing.

Yep....exactly. I was digging the "BENO" roadster....sorry no pics. Original 50's hotrod, black 32 roadster...tasty! He was out of Arizona, I believe. The car was on the other side by all the arts and crafts ****. Hollywood Hotrods had a *****in right hand drive 32 going together. It looked pretty killer.

Nice meeting you Bob! I think I'm going back tomorrow, it was to much to take in, in one day.

  10. I'm going back tomorrow also. Way too much for one day. Who else is going back?

Bob - It's a Winter Grille shell (p***enger most common), it was a rare accesory offered by a company in PA , the vents shut to keep the snow out of the radiator. They are so rare (because most rotted away) that to find one, you'll pay $3-5K just for that insert. There were only (3) cars at the show that had them. I usually only see one a year. Hot rodders like them because they have a unique style... that is one of those "cool" things that the "others" can't buy out of a catalogue. It's just ****ing Traditional to the core.....hell yea!!!

    Hey,

So, what did you like @ the roadster show?......hum, besides the
redhead I followed to the parking lot? Oh, yeah the '38 Lincoln
V12 roadster was killer, and did anyone see the '51 Merc., with
the '50 rear light, in deep blue candy? It made up for the purple
    80's streetrodded '51 Merc. I saw.

Thanks dude, Yeah man I was pretty stoked on our line-up there today. It was cool having two new cars there. It was weird pulling that thing in, so many people were asking " whats done to that flatty" as soon as I got out of the car. I still cant believe how good that car sounds.
    See you guys tomorrow.

P.s. I wasnt so sure about the winter front grill, but once we installed it I really liked the way that it looked.
P.s.s. Thanks everyone for the kind words, It makes all the hard hours seem a little more worth it.

I also like this roadster that Rudy Rodriguiz built. He found this in Central Calif. Unrestored!! It's very early post war. One of the very few "original" Ford roadster bodies at the show.

Jimmy, that is a beautiful car! Me and my Father stopped by your shop the day before (right when you guys were getting back from getting lunch), and man, that is a very nice clean ride. Thanks for letting us peruse your shop a bit. Sorry that we couldn't hang out longer.... we were trying to get to a lot of shops that day :p (although, we probably would have just been in your way of finishing that car... LoL!)

i've got a bunch of pics of the car.... and the show (so far over 1000), and will be putting them online as well.

Tomorrow should be a great day.... i spent most of the day in the swap meet area, and the vendor area, but tomorrow its the day to look at all the cars inside :)

I love going to shows like these... it really helps inspire you to get back to the shop and work on your car more. haha! So I can't wait to get back to FL and get back to work!

And my favorite car of the show thus far? This sweet little number over in the swap-meet area:

I was checking out the *****in Washington Blue early A coupe, emailing pics of it to some guys who have helped me with my coupe, thinking its was the bees-knees, when Jimmy White's 32 roadster came into my mind. I'm pianting my coupe Washington blue.

So I read along, and ****** me Jimmy built the ****er!!!

    Go figure.

    nice work guys

    Keep those pictures coming

    Jimmy,
It's just another one of your creations that escapes words. You build cars like a kid building a big model. It amazes me how much detail goes into your work. I stood there and looked at that car, inch by inch, with my jaw hanging open. And that was before I knew you built it! Hat's off buddy, once again!

Thanks Dude, Its funny you mentioned the model thing, When we were painting all the pieces, we were joking around that it was like a big model. You should have stopped by the booth it was right next to the car. Thanks everyone for the kind words.
