I am not 100% sure because the owner of the car provided the engine. I do know that it has a Merc crank, its bored .125 over, oversize valves, Isky 400 Jr. cam. It was built a few years ago by a guy named Alan Hale, he p***ed away 2 years ago. I cant believe how good that thing sounds, I must of had another 20 people come up to me today commenting on it.

P.s. I am sorry I dont know the specifics, I have never really been into Flatheads, I have always liked them, but never owned one. This engine changed all that, my next hot rod I build for myself is going to be Flathead powered.

This tangerine color seems to be the new fad, even the production cars are using it in one shade or another. Does anyone know what headlight bezels are used on this Merc? I like the peaks...

Sounds very much like the next one I'm going to build. Got a new French block - plan is .125" over, Isky400Jr, 4-1/8" crank, Cyclone heads - I'll probably break it in on a good 2x2 setup I've got, then I'll run a 2x4 until I can put a blower on it! :D

So what's the exhaust - that has all the relevance in the world to the sound, of course. Open? Long open pipes out the back sound pretty good. I've got Fentons & Brockman steelpacks out the back on my stock '40 - sounds respectable.

You had me until this pic. Those lights look like they came off a trailer

  8. The cars were great, I sold some stuff, drank beer, hung out with friends, went shopping and found almost nothing to buy,
but enjoyed the most out of talking shop with all the old guys cruising through the swap meet.
Decades of true hot rod experience right there..
    very cool.

I had a great time, that was the best swap-meet I have ever walked, in comparison to what I am use to in Ohio..........I finally made a Hamb meet and greet, not to mention the Hambers I met at the So-Cal Speed Shop show...I was a little embarr***ed that they had my car out in the open in the shop........Its always great to watch someone walk up to it and walk away just shakin their heads..........I really need to finish the freak...But Saturday I did get to ride with Shine in his Truck to the Roadster Show, it was the first time it hit the street since its new make over, and that H&H rebuilt Flatty with the Scot Blower sounded great. It just felt good to be riding in a Hot Rod, I really miss my Model A Pick-up back in Ohio...........Littleman

The lights are the wingtip lights off of a P-51 airplane. Its what the customer supplied so thats what we installed.

The HAMB meet was great, I sat around there for almost four hours. Met a bunch of the guys and saw some really cool stuff. I thought the swap meet ****ed...................there wasnt one thing I was even remotely inetrested in asking the price of. Saw some outrageous prices on cars. Overall pretty darn good weekend.

  20. That car's another home run from your shop Jimmy. The tailites look better in person. Kind of a "mechanical" look to them. Not too foo foo

The cool thing about that coupe is that its a late 27 Model A/R only couple
thousand made..I think Ryan (owner) said it was number 2013???

A/R stood for Advance Research? Correct me if i'm wrong..

Look at the belt lines on the door as well as the fire wall edging is thicker
its a really cool car aside from the Flatty and jimmys sweet touches..

the 30/31 visor really makes a diffrence...

that ****er sounds like an overhead...*****en...

I hope to be like the Circle City guys when i grows up.

Yeah. They're '56 Olds, with the whole outer return cut away so that only the inner bezel and the peak are left. Great idea, and beautifully executed!

Your coupe was blowing my mind at the So-cal open house. I took more photos of it than anything else there. Terrific car, great ideas, and perfect execution.

    Yep, sure did.

The leg is still hurting, I re-fractured it about a week ago! My knee is all better, though, no surgery needed (knock wood)

I was really bummed to miss taking photos at the Father's Day show this year, but I couldn't do that much walking. Suzanne Williams suggested I get one of those Rascal electric scooter things, but i p***ed on that idea.

I heard you coming in -- that truck sounds INCREDIBLE! (I finally got a chance to look it over awhile later)

Great show. Haven't been to the show for years. Definitely worth the trip over from Phoenix to see it and then the quick trip back Saturday evening to get back into the shop to finish a customer project to be debuted soon.

Highlights of the show were for myself:

    - Jim Lattin's recreation project. (too bad it isn't patina'd -- definitely needs a run on the lake beds or at Bonneville!)
    - The IndyCar roadster project that was over by Brizio's group. There is some great engineering in that car. Hopefully everyone else took a close look underneath it or in the trunk. I have some great ideas after seeing the hood latches and door latches -- artwork.
    - Jack Calori coupe -- I want it!
    - There were the two HAMB-style coupes as posted in another thread. The interior of the 33/34 was INCREDIBLE with the pedals, dash and small details throughout!
    - Interesting seeing old/new billet when ****era's new rod appeared next to the (ex-****era) Corno AMBR winning roadster he did @32+ years ago! (The guy driving ****era's rod said Lil' John wasn't doing that well the past few days -- anyone have updates?)
    - Chip's P32. Glad to see it has been on the street lately for occasional use and errands. Pretty cool car! (I know that Lincoln V-12 puts out a tremendous amount of heat and the cooling system is on the weak side -- they are still looking for a cure to make it a "driver")

There was a gold 28/29 roadster in the swap area that had a 60s vibe going on. Had a hallock winshield, low and very clean. I think it was in the same row as Circle City Hot Rods vendor/swap/display space (which were awesome and required time looking at) Did anyone get any pictures or know info on that car? I wanted to spend some time looking at it, but was distracted with gathing parts for my new project. Went back and it had vamoosed. Never saw it return on Sunday.

Met Evel for the first time and with a ketchup stained knuckle he greeted me. Missed the HAMB meet and greet because I was lugging parts from one end of the swap to El Polacko's trailer.

Did Bob K ever get his beer?
