Fired up the 57 Chevrolet today after sitting for a couple of months, let it heat up for a little while, love listening to that camshaft and the exhaust note :D i need to get off my *** and fix the steering box, that's the only "issue" with driving the car. Not a big fan of the rear end gears but it's not keeping the car from running up and down the road. Had my seats recovered, but they ****, and of course the paint. So, a steering box, round 2 with the interior, and finishing the body are my hurdles, what's your problem? ;) 20200726_182343.jpg

The almighty dollar (or lack thereof).

That and the lack of enthusiasm this cold weather's brought on. It's certainly not laziness, nosiree.

2BF8E130-DC12-4C23-A9DB-A62873D247D4.jpeg I’m back in my shop trying to clean it up, so I can work! Haven’t been motivated lately. But just found out I was exposed to Covid, last Monday! So.... nothing to do now but keep to myself in the shop! Maybe I’ll get something done??.. Just added five more filing cabinets! Boy do they fill up fast!

Right now, it’s being stuck in a hotel room, 500 miles from my garage with nothing to do but work or hang out.

    So, back to work...

  12. Im scared to even put this out there.... but I've got so many I want to do (and I know I'll never get to them all), that I flip flop on which one I want to start on and dig in my heels.

    Time.
I have a rental home that I gutted. Because of a crazy hot summer and lumber prices, I’m about 2 months behind schedule on it. Now just trying to get house closed up so I can continue in the spring. Well, my Mercury block, heads and crankshaft sit in the pole barn still wrapped in the plastic from the machine shop. That was supposed to be my over the winter project LAST winter. So looks like I’ll be firing up the bullet heater and ***embling it THIS winter. I hope the price of kerosene doesn’t go up now!

Two step problem, I can't do anything until I buy a set of '32 rails to fit the floor pans in place on the Roadster and Steelback projects. I know what they cost along with shipping, and have made that several times, just keep spending it on household things. Maybe things will change in 2021. Bob

I've got a Small Block to drop into her car, then I'm told the living room needs a new color. Finally got a color that is like able but ceiling needs paint now as well. Got those finished but now trim work needs freshening. Oh and the HVAC vent, it has latex paint on it so guess what Sidney!?

Time and money at the same time. Have one or the other, but not both at the same time. And not having an enclosed shop area, temps play a huge part on when I do anything. Older I get, the less I want to do out there when it's less than 60*.

Maybe by spring everything will align at the same time, money, time, and temps.....

This guy's dad bought that for him when he was 16 years old, it was a cool ol hot rod in my opinion from the pictures he showed me. I pulled the body, did all of the suspension, doing the paint and gl***, wiring, plumbing, etc.. everything but interior. Kinda more fluffy foo foo than i like, but it's a customer, not my car ;) and he's gonna give it to his son.

Feel your pain man, noticed a swag in the floor one day, upon further inspection, turns out the structural components of my house became a buffet for termites. To the tune of about $40k. And insurance doesn't cover that. So my car money has been going to those stupid lumber prices. And i use a 120,000btu kerosene heater, when i walk in the shop i turn it on while i get the ol pot belly stove going, kerosene is $4 a gallon here.

The only real problem I have is a decent place to work and life seems to get in the way of that. Hard to convince my body to go out and tear down the old shed to build the new shed.

I can't bring myself to work on my junk when I've got customer stuff that needs to be done. That's bad juju. I tell myself that I'll work on my stuff at night, but by the time night rolls around I'm freaking exhausted and ready to hang it up!

My problem? Hmm I have a lot do you have time? Is there a couch somewhere around here...:D

Seriously as far as car stuff? I am in the middle of fixing the shifter on my 4 speed top loader. Then I am pulling the gears in the rear end to swap them out. Supposed to be 3:50 trac loc rear end but that thing makes more damn noise, backing up, going forward or around turns. I am going to swap something else in. It's all debug stuff since I built the car from scratch. Other than that cleaning **** of the garage so I can bring more **** in for the next project!

I'm with you on the crazy lumber prices. Im remodeling the entry area of my house, my stepbrother is sending some of his crew to do some stonework on the inside around the door. I went to pick up a few sheets of OSB today and **** my pants at the $24.99 per sheet price!
The car situation...weld some, grind some, weld some, grind some...I'll be glad when this part is done! Then I can Prime and block, prime and block.....

Hmmmm....lack of insulation, heat and a concrete floor, plus really cold weather puts a halt to playing cars for the winter.

I did pick up another 360 I’m going to freshen up at the college over the winter for the Fargo, nothing serious.
