I had a 69 Ranger when we first were married. Original paint one owner. Paid $900 for it. I should have kept it. It was a 360/C6 but, I couldn’t keep a column collar on it. It would break them at a rate of 1 per payday. I bought them in bulk.

IDK (for you old guys, that's the new short slang for "l don't know") why all the hate for nicknames. It's easier than saying "1967 to 1972 Ford pickup". And if you don't know your years of pickups, saying the years won't mean anything to you anyway.
Right now on my property I have Effies, Slicks, Bumps, Dents, and Bullnoses. And there's even a Square and AD for you Chevy dudes.

Hate? Never got that vibe myself. Us 'Old Guys' were just stating that it was never a handle when these generations were new. Frankly, IDGAF what they're called.

These monikers stemmed from Chevy trucks in the mid 2000s. It was OOBS ( square body )OBS ( GMT 400 )and NBS ( GMT 800 ). This is old old, old, and new body style. They kept adding Ns for a couple generations but I think that lingo is dead for newer stuff. Ford guys adopted something similar a little later and now it goes to dent, bump and OBS which also splits into brick nose and aero nose. The trucks to ‘86 are bull nose. Confused yet?

To me the 68/69 Ranger long beds were some of the best looking trucks Ford built. They look odd to me in a short bed. Not proportioned correctly. I love the long beds slammed with a hard cover on the bed. Looks sleek.

I perfer the all metal grill over the later trucks with the plastic inserts.
I have 71 F-350 flat bed that has a lot of needs before I start looking for an earlier grill.LOL!

Kind of like the old semis . Cannonball GMC cabover . Then the cracker box GMC .
Bullnose Kenworth cabover . I know we are discussing Ford pickup body styles but it’s funny what people name different body styles of vehicles.

  8. My buddy has been messing around with these trucks since they were pretty much worthless back in the late '90s or early 2000s and he always referred to them as bump sides and the slightly newer ones as dent sides...
There is actually a whole bunch of names for the different models of Ford pickups 8rpHtbD.jpg

  9. Let's be real a truck isn't what a truck was in the 1980s and older back when they were rough riding stripped work trucks today's trucks are much closer in horsepower, size and comfort to what a luxury car was when we were kids you know a new RAM is essentially a Chrysler imperial or New Yorker, a new super duty is essentially a Lincoln and a new Silverado is essentially what a Cadillac used to be They are all rear wheel drive, most of them now seat six people and they have a pickup bed that is hardly a pickup bed it's about the same size as my 1973 Lincoln's trunk. Most of them now are V8s or extremely stout six cylinders and if we are being realistic they are a little more useful than those awesome two-door sedans and coupes from 40 or 50 years ago... When it comes to a Mustang or a Camaro they definitely still have their following with the younger crowd because most of the time you see one if it's about 5 or 10 years old a younger person is in it but you got to remember an old Mustang to a 20-year-old is any Mustang that is older than when they were born. I don't think pickups never really had a time they weren't useful or somewhat cool under the right circumstances I know mustangs and Camaros when I was a kid everybody scared me away from them because of high insurance costs.

Yeah, for sure. I love my new super duty. I've got a pretty large and heavy boat, and when I bought the truck I asked the sales guy "how much will it tow", and he says whatcha towin? I said I've got a pretty big boat. He says "uh, it'll tow a friggin backhoe man..." lol.

Can't even tell my boat is behind it when I tow. It's awesome. My wife calls it the miniature semi.... And that's about what it feels like sitting inside it.

Rides pretty rough tho. But so did my mustang, just for different reasons.
