So when do you think we'll see more trad stuff on Spike & the Speed channel?

Personally, I don't want to see traditional rodding ever become mainstream. I like the fact that we are akin to some sort of secret society. When hot rods become as popular as "Cheezy Poofs" I'm sticking my head in the oven!

  2. Hopefully it'll continue to fly under radar and keep it from becoming a distorted self-mocking wankfest.

Are we all unique and special snowflakes here?

Agreed. Speedvision was programing for the gearhead. Speed is programming for the nascar addicts and the t.v. ratings numbers crunchers. Look at the stir that came up when speed dropped wrc coverage. Tells you enough about what the mentality behind the network is. Unfortunately the gearhead t.v. viewing population is but a mere drop in the bucket where large scale viewership numbers rule the programming roster.

IMO, the best automotive TV EVER was on The Nashville Network (TNN) 10 years or so ago. Even their NASCAR coverage was fun with Buddy Baker as color commentator. The winter sprint car series, the midgets from the Left coast and even the nationwide Demolition Derby series were fantastic! It might not have been the building of hot rods, but it was car stuff that could get your heart pumping..:) Sure beats the hell out of Barry McGuire pimping his products on "Car Crazy", "Barrett-Jackson", Will Castro and his "Unique Whips", or the Yugoslavian Grand Prix...
