when the wife/girlfriend/sig. other found out about the parts you bought? Or the SLIGHTLY underexaggerated price you told her you paid for them?

That couch is getting pretty uncomfortable!

Like, last weekend. But she was happy when I hit 100 at the dragstrip.:)

  4. My wife doesnt ask anymore.

As long as the bills are paid, it really doesnt matter,
except she'd like more $$ to buy junk for herself.

Last year (or was it two) anyways teh wife gets home from work and I told her, "by the way - I just bought another old truck" She rolls her eyes and I proceed with the story....good buddy.....life's curves......downsizing....killer deal....I'll sell the other truck and basically spend nothing.....almost instantly she suggested I pass on the truck and buy one of his OTHER (read more expensive cars) 'cause the kids would fit in it......good idea I said.....by the time it was over I bought them both!!!! FYI I'm NOT the kind of guy who BUYS cars (or trucks) but this was a really tough situation - anyways in the end I get my other old truck running again - so I could sell it. After driving it around the block I realized I couldn't part with it.....now she's a bit irritated and asks if I plan on then selling the other truck.....I ask would it make you feel better?? She says YES it would - I say hummmm good to know, but no I ain't sellin' neither one:p

    She understands it's a SICKNESS!!!!! I'm sick and I don't care!!!

I mean - I'm gonna need a tow vehicle right??? Why not an old cool one!!??!!

Not being strapped with a new car payment really makes these decisions easy!!!!!!! :D

    Not me.......

I take my best friend ( the wife ) with me almost every where I go...

When I bought the 32 3W.....she paid the guy while I was loading it.... :D and she is always encouring me to order the stuff I need.....and work on the 32.....

Went I go to get major $$$ stuff......she rides with me, and does the banker thing.....

This is GREAT........ .IMHO......because when I die.....she knows what I have....and what I paid........and will have the contacts to sell my junk at a fair market value and not get cheated.....

Dang,I used to laugh when the subject came up..I never lied to her,I just didn't ever tell her...
I wasn't laughing the 3 hours I spent on this past Monday getting crucified by her lawyer at my fucking deposition..
And yeah, car shit came up in the conversation pretty damn quick and pretty damn often..
And now I have to give this shyster a list of EVERY FUCKING CAR THING I OWN...
What happened to me won't happen to many other guys, and no,the divorce doesn't really have a damn thing to do with my love of car shit..
Naaa, her married boyfriend had more to do with that than my garage full of cars..
    BUT....BUT.....BUT.....
    Take care of your wives,guys...
This shit sucks worse than you can believe..
Just call me Dr.Fucking Bill...and yeah,I can give damn good marriage advice now...

What, haven't you guys tried the

"what this old thing - Oh it's been in the garage for ages"
"yes, this is the first time you have seen this, but I have had it for a long time"
"don't you remember this little item, I'm sure you saw it last time you were in the garage, remember??"

    approach?

These are standard female comments for new purchases!

I guess I am lucky, I buy my own hot rod parts with great encouragement from my husband:)

Mine's pretty good as long as we're able to keep the house. :D
She doesn't usually ask any questions. I guess she figures what she doesn't know won't hurt her.
I do get that eye rolling thing a lot though.

As long as I stay out of the bars, jail or don't mess around with other women, everything is okay. Its usually her saying buy the part when I'm having second thoughts about it costing too much.
After 34 years I think I'll keep her.

My wife bought me that book, and the sequel; "Busted Tractors and Rusty Knuckles"
which features "Norwegian torque wrench techniques and other fine points of tractor restoration."
She also bought me a 60 El Camino and her a '55 Chevy pickup, which I've been working on lately, because every good old truck deserves to get "worked", and it's closer to the curb than the Elky.

Anyone ever bought a set of Thunderbird valve covers off ebay and charge it to your moms credit card? Then wash her Tahoe and clean the house to work it off?
