me too!, one last question ryan because I really don´t want my thread to be banned.can I ***ume that if the modern clips and all that stuff are not "focused on" in the thread then the thread can stay on its feet?
my point being, if the car contains modern elements albeit hidden, does that ban the thread or just those parts of the car.

I can keep quiet about the jag clip and engine but I´d still like feedback about chopping, bodywork repairs, channeling etc.

sorry if this is turning into a can of worms!

Come on man,Roots type blowers were first introduced in the 1860's and in the 1920's Mercedes installed them on production cars. HRP

Yeah,...it'll be a while before I attempt a thread about my truck,....this thread really didn't clarify things enough. (apparently I'm not alone by reading the replies)

Being about traditional, old school ways of modifying cars, I understand,........but allowing air bags to be included in the discussion,....I don't.

IFS was more common long, long before bags were,....and no matter how well hidden,.....if an EFI isn't allowed, why should modern air bags and all the lines, compressors, tanks and switches that come with them, be allowed?

I'm just a newbie but,....it should be easier for someone new to this forum to be able to understand new rules, than someone who has been here a long time and now has to adjust.

Oh well,......there's so much here to look at and learn from,....I'll just keep digging. ;)

Yeah, if you don't quite get it yet just stick around and read for awhile. The H.A.M.B. certainly isn't for everyone.

Geez guys, it's not all that difficult. Some of you folks who have been on here for only a month or two really need to step back and read and listen for a while. Of course there are always going to be gray areas in what is or isn't "traditional". It's Ryan's forum and it's up to him to ultimately make the decisions on what stays and what doesn't. Just because a car in the 30's had IFS doesn't mean it is a traditional hot rod. Ryan has made it very clear that the forum is going to re-focus on traditional hot-rods and customs. This "pushing the envelope" by some is really getting onerous. Just relax, pay attention, especially to some of the folks on here who are "steeped" in tradition. For the record, I personally can't even come close to where most of those guys(and gals) are in that regard, but I'm very thankful that they exist and that they are doing their level best to preserve something and doing it with a p***ion. I'm just kinda amazed that the re-focus has generated so much confusion and consternation.............Don.

Forum software is cheap, I have several myself. One thing that is kind of an oxy***** about this whole "traditional" moniker is that it was always changing, even back then, when ever "then" actually was. You can try to pull a year out of the air that you want to mimic your cars look after, and say it is 1950. But by 1952, some of those trends or techniques no longer fit the common styles done in 1950. There was also many "lone wolf" hotrodders that didn't run with the traditional crowds or have their stuff featured in car magazines that was still every bit as "traditional" to them as the other styles were "traditional" to the other crowds. Just because you don't see it covered in an old Hot Rod magazine doesn't mean it wasn't done or it still isn't traditional. Many people in the 1940's and 1950's, especially in the midwest didn't even have electricity or running water in many rural areas and never traveled more than 50 miles from their homes their whole life, so they didn't even know what rodders in other parts of the country were even doing to know if they were traditional themselves. They just used what they had available to them. Just sayin'....

I've been biting my lip as new guy. I GET IT. I UNDERSTAND IT! AND I RESPECT IT. I feel a lot of the confusion comes from past practices. If Ryan wishes to refocus then, Right On! I just hope that giant wealth of information that I joined the H.A.M.B. for is not lost! It seems that every time I Google something the H.A.M.B. had the answer. I understand a lot of the information I seek it off topic. BUT PLEASE RYAN AT LEAST CONSIDER KEEPING THE INFORMATION THAT EXISTS. FNG Over and out.

Yes that is the part that makes this site amazing, the wealth of information! You get to know the people on here that have great advice and technical talent!(their name pops up and you know the answer is not far behind) this information can be used on traditional and every day builds. Keeping the information that exist is like keeping history(don,t burn the books) Pete

If you are here for traditional hot rods and customs, you are going to be very pleased in the coming months. Promise.
