Jeff got an email from our Social Club Member Dennis Bean,as you know Dennis is in a wheelchair and is unable to do His own work.He paid a local "mechanic" $225 to install a Pertronix in His '54 the jerk took His money and the car does not run. Dennis is in New Hampshire- are there any members who may be in the vicinity who could lend our member a hand?

Please post any updates in this thread.

    Thanks everyone!

I just took a Pertronix conversion out of my Buick. Quit in Friday evening traffic and left me stranded...in the fast lane. Arggg! No way to fix it other than to replace it, and I didn't have...and couldn't get...a replacement.

Anyhoo... His "mechanic" probably hooked the Pertronix up to the ballasted lead instead of giving it pure 12-volts straight from the ignition switch. Simple-minded mistake...failure to read the instructions. But also a very simple cure.

There's also the possibility, though unlikely, that the Pertronix module is bad. Either way, it won't be a big deal to fix...as long as he's not stuck in the middle of a very busy freeway.

Good luck! Sorry I'm not closer.

I wish I lived closer to him . I would have done it for nothing just to help out a fellow hot rodder in need !
When mechanic do things like that , it' leaves a real bad feeling inside of me that someone would rip someone off like that and the car still doesn't even run !

I wish I could help out but I don't know my a$$ from a hole in the ground when it comes to this type of thing. Hopefully things work out and some guys that do know what they are doing can help.
