In light of the recent announcement regarding Off Topic topics/vehicles, I know some of the stuff I do is skating the ragged edge. I will take performance vehicle stuff to Dogfightmag.com as much as possible but the audience there is small. So, I would like to direct guys to my Social Group page where I can moderate the flotsam myself and be as off topic as I see fit without polluting the main board. However, there are some tools missing that would be keen in promoting the use of these social groups. Missing would be some sort of reporting to subscribers when new posts are launched. I know someone can subscribe to individual posts within these groups as I already do some of these. Maybe set up an RSS function to those of us who use feed readers? Some way to promote the Social Groups. I think it would be pretty darn cool to be able to select my "Friends" from my personal page and send them a PM saying "hey, check out this cool Social Group"... I dunno, stupid maybe but I think it could be useful. Any help in these areas?
I'll be interested to hear some comments, as the engine in my truck is O/T. It's hard to draw a line in the sand with things like sbc and style. Flat black can be awesome like HRP's truck or in some cases, pretty ratty... Maybe some encouragement to move stuff to other forums? I would be willing to remove parts of my build if there is gonna be crack down because I love this place.
Thanks ElP. Your stuff is always of super high quality, and I'm glad you are finding ways to keep posting it. The Dogfight isnt as big as the HAMB, but I like it a lot. Who knows... Maybe a couple of years from now, we'll have " who are the first 500 " Treads on that too. Reminiscing about the good old days, like we have them on the HAMB now...
if you post your stuff on a social group nobody will ever see it. the ones I go to are dead. I've never seen a thread from you that did not belong.
I understand, I really think the reason the social groups have died is because no one checks them. Same reason other boards with m***ive sub-headings fizzle and die. I truly believe the one heading message board is one of the main reasons the HAMB has done so well. If there were some sort of reporting or forwarding applications for these groups to promote, I think it could grow them.
