I bought these labels and they are great..seems that the numbers have shrunk since I bought my tool set 40 years ago and i just stumbled onto these on ebay It's a foil label that sticks well,,I cleaned all my sockets with alcohol,,prep right! http://www.ebay.com/itm/280546300230?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648
That's funny, the numbers on MY sockets have shrunk too over the years ! Those look pretty good. I might have to get few sets too. Don
Unlike everyone else I can't just reach into the tool box and grab the 7mm blindly..careful labelling the 8mm,,i put the label on upside down ,,,,twice
I laughed at first but my 66 year old eyes started saying "hey wade a middet, were't we just carrying that socket out in the light to see what size it was an hour ago?" If those would stay on they would be worth having. At that price I just bought a set to try. I suppose I have to organize my sockets now too.
They now have color coded sockets, I'm planning on getting a set to help teach my 4 year old son fractions.
So what exactly are you trying to say? That I'm old blind and easily confused? Have you been talking to my wife? I just ordered 2 sets. That way I'll still have a set to use when I misplace the first one.
Did same thing with some old stickie labels i had lying around. Cost me nothing and got some thing out of house.
Yeah....I got to get those....then I can stop banging my forehead on the dangling magnifying gl*** above my tool box..........Thanks
Just go get prescription bifocals or trifocals. If you can't see the numbers on the sockets, you can't see many other things. My eye doctor told me I could just use the reading gl***es but it was a h***le taking them on and off. You can get safety gl***es with bifocals. My problem was that each eye needed different magnification. I got trifocals so I can see things very close up also. Then I got a single magnification pair just to use at welding distance.
The only way I get any exercise is walking back & forth to my toolbox to try another size gol-danged socket.... Seriously, I think I'll wait til they have sockets that "beep" and let you know where they are...Mine hide from me all the time..
I have used them for several years. They are not bad. The numbers will wear off after a while, especially on the most used sizes. They do stick good, actually a lot better than I first expected. Mat
I like the guy with the labeled sockets and the pot leaf sticker on his tool box.....u guys see any coralation?
I have to get some of those, I have a lot of craftsman sockets that had the size silk screened onto the side. Over time the numbers just fade away and they are not engraved like the older craftsman stuff I have.
Wow, and all these years I've just been counting from the left... 1/2" is the third one over, so is 10mm. Maybe I've just had the same set of tools TOO long.
the numbers on my sockets got so small i just sent them off and had them stamped with the braille system , now i just fill the damb thing and use it that way , seems like every thing fades nowdays.
I put size labels on all bolt-heads and nuts, then pick through the sockets or wrenches repeatedly until I find one that fits. I'm athinkn' that those labels on Ebay might really simplify things for me. Thanks for the tip, and Happy Easter.
Using them would mean I would have to go around the garage and pick up all my sockets, then I wouldn't know where I left them.
For me it's belly fat and to much hair below now @ 51. At least I hope that's all it is. But I can still find it, I think that why I'm going blind as well.
I did not realize those were silkscreened as I don't own any that new. I was using a paint marker on my impact sockets but that stuff is not durable at all.
I don't need those. I measure the nuts and bolts with my trained eye, then I look at the sockets with my trained eye and grab the correct one. it usually only takes me 2 or 3 tries to get the right size.
