Projects SOHC Galaxie frame rolls

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SOHC427, Apr 28, 2009.

  1. Yes, I believe that is what I saw - did a little research and found this pic of what it looked like when I saw it - the memory is clearer now - it was definitely street driven when I saw it. What a mean car!

Thanks Holeshot, and the rest of the well wishers, I appreciate your support, and love of Cammers!

The Wild Child Falcon, is a scary fast little car, and sure a cool bit of history.

I will keep you posted with the progress,

    Thanks, Eric

Okay, I am going to say it....

'63-'65 Galaxies are more amazing and stylish than '63-'65 Impalas.

    Bam.

OK Ken, you might have your SOHC at home, but mine is with the Cammer Master, Earl Wade. I am jealous that you get to have your time with yours, but mine will be home soon!

Spooky, I must agree about the Gals looking better then the Impala!

wow. I so want a cammer. I had a customer, from my snapon days, who had 12 sets of heads in his shop, 4 in original ford boxes. And he had 8 complete motors. I am not going to lie I did plot to sneak into the shop in the cover of night and rob him silly.
-alas he wouldn't even talk to me about buying a set.

Ken;we never got John's cammer down the track. That fire, I believe, took away his desire to finish the Comet, what a shame. We did get it to run and move under power, had many small issues though.I hate to think of all the times I pushed that car in and out of the trailer!!! It is in a private collection now back on the East coast. That 2004 tour was one of the highlights of being a FORD FREAK for me,a sea of FE horsepower!!! ROY.

SOHC427;Earl Wade was supposed to be at this years CHRR to help Larry Napp.Larry broke a rocker adjuster while back East,he replaced it but Earl wanted to check out the engine. He missed his flight and it just didn't work out for a later flight.Larry made one qualifying pass,a 9.03 with the chute out and scateing around, held up for #1 in A/FX.Did you catch Jay Brown's drag week runs with his 64 Galaxie? ROY.

John's white car?........the fire in Oklahoma?............the ole fire horse in me found that one............felt like we saved 2 Comets that day........

..Got the ole Red Ford repaired after the incident in Hellabama with Ole Scrap Iron...and used Larry Knapp's tire to get it off the track......lol...............

..Earl missed his flight..yep, I heard about that...he most likely slept late...............

..Earl Wade...........so many one liners he should have his own late nite talk show........told me our FE block belonged "on Ebay"............

    Roy,

I did get the CHHR story about Larry's pass, pulling the chute..... Little svary for my tastes.

I talk to Earl a few times a week, and Larry on and off. Those two crack me up! Larry halped me out with some parts for my Cammer, too. He is a good guy.

I did see Jay's Galaxie posts, and that is a neat set up he has there. I am happy to see the FE followings, and the parts coming out, too.

Mark, you always have some funny .02$ to add, when your picking on Earl, and your right, about hiding your beer!

Eric;you are right about Larry, what a laid back kinda guy.We had Butch Leal in our pit area until 10:30PM Friday night at the CHRR,man the stories he told!!!! ROY.

    You guys are killing me!
Snow sucks, but the shop is warm, and equiped with plenty of beer, but I just need that damn engine home.

Chances are I'll end up in a divorce, because I won't see my wife after all my parts are here. A man has to have his priorities..... Had the car, a lot longer than my wife!

Thanks for all the engine shots, they are great!

SOHC Comet body rolls update.Cleaned up the engine and repainted it black being that its going into a mercury which is good for at least 3 horse over the blue ford paint.

Ken;was the blue Mustang at the 07 or 08 CHRR? There was a Mustang pitted at the end of our row with an efi converted injection setup, never got a chance to meet him. ROY.

Roy, that is the car pitted with us. I was the guy walking around wirh the cast on my leg. Bob says he is going to the CHRR in 2010, but we will see. He is working on a Blown Boss 429 project right now.(A Real Boss car, too) and getting the EFI working better, on the cammer. I sold Bob one of my other cammers, who sold it to another gent here in CO, who is threatening to put it in a 61 Starliner....
Willie with the Sohc Bird built the Mustang cammer, 482 cid, and 14 to 1 compression, C6 and 4.88's. It is a real nice car built in the late 60's, and Bob put it back to where it is today.

By the way, the twin to the Bird, a 56 with a cammer, sat in my garage for 5 years, and now rests in Lake Havasue, waiting for a rebuild.

Cool guy, with some neet stuff.

    What a killer ride!

The pictures posted by mercuryjunky was taken at the Coffee and Cars show Saturday mornings at the Mazda Bldg. in Irvine, Calif. Its a SoCal car.

    Thanks Dry Lakes,
I would love to pick his brains a while, and find out the history of that mercury.

And Proud Mary, you are a good wife, because I showed my wife the pic of the cammer in the house, and told her she should be more like you, and allow more of my cammer stuff inside the home, instead of just the shop. She isn't seeing it my way.....
