Nope, here it is.....with a reserve...smart! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid=7265811137357450152
If this is the car I'm not finding any reserve. It looks like ther current bid is 1700 and change. Unless my dislexia is kicking in and that really 1.7 million Pretty neat car. The way I'm reading it the engine was purchased in '66, it doesn't say that the car was built in '66. Pretty slick that he wants you to call for history. No paper trail. Looks like the engine has 1 hour on it. If you break that down into passes even at 10 seconds that woud be 6 passes per minute times 60 minutes. That's 360 passes. If you allow 1/2 hour for staging (that's pretty generous) you still have 180 passes. That's a lot of passes. never the less its a pretty cool car. Did I mention that I just had my birthday and no one got me anything? What if I say I'm an orphan? Yea I know the orphan thing is stretching it but what the hell. Damned neat car one of you younger fellas should own it. Damn it went from 1,700 to 7,100 while I was typing.
goodluck guys I talked to the old man and the cars not even In Il It's In wisconsin.get this the reserve Is set at 500K.the car may be worth 20-65K tops.nowhere near 500K some people just dont get It do they.2 steel cars just sold on e-bay yesterday at 42K and some change with a blown big block chevy engine which was a record holding car and a nice smallblock yellow all steel coupe just went for 50K.so hows It possible for a pile of parts car needing restored with a glass nose with a decent engine worth 500K?LOL
Auctions on eBay do not state the reserve price unless the seller has specifically listed it in their item description text. The status of the reserve, if the auction has one, is below the current bid. In the case of this car, the auction (currently) states "Reserve not met".
Its back on i spoke with owner he is 71 Y/o what a story... and if its true what a piece it is I am high bidder and reserve hasnt been met And i am out of money I WANT MOTOR anyone want car??
Almost every REAL, TRUE historic Willys gasser race car had fiberglass parts... noses, fenders, deck lids and sometimes even doors. Very few remained all steel. The SWC Swindler B car is one that comes to mind, and they ran B gas and I guess needed the extra weight. Correct is correct, nothing wrong with vintage glass stuff. Most all steel Willys are now street rods. Dont believe ANYTHING you see on ebay!! 1st run auctions with shill bidding, friends as high bidders and the car supposedly sells only to show up a month later, etc And this car doesn't really excite me for some reason?? Carburetors, wood panel interior, no magnesium wheels? Cool motor tho.
The seller has clearly lost his marbles. 500K is a number a person who has nothing better to do than play with folks puts as a reserve.
I think you must mean 50k and thats what some cars bring actually 50 plus The guy seemed straight up on phone when we spoke cant wait for the end
The only bid that matters is the high bid and if it doesn't meet reserve then that bid doesn't matter either. I'm with ShakeyPuddin - the car is pretty crude. Imagine it without the cammer - just a crude old race car and there are better ones out there. But if it has serious history then it is a different ballgame.... Can anyone confirm the alleged fantasy $500k reserve or is it a typo or just hearsay?
-------------------------------- "Pretty cool "?? "Damned neat"??? Huh??? More like -"ABSOLUTELY 'EFFING OUTRAGEOUS" - is what it is!!! That "one hour' time on the engine, if it's correct, is most likely simply 'break in' time. with maybe - or maybe not even - a few race passes on top of that. I highly doubt it refers to '360 ten second race passes'! Mart3406 ==============================
Pics (1 through 6 of 12) Re: SOHC powered Willys coupe Ebay listings don't stay on the net for too long, so in the interests of posterity I've copied, and attached the pics from the ebay listing. Enjoy! Mart3406 =============================
He wants to see what it will do wont sell it or tell the reserve he is a WIYLEY cat 71 years young has had the car since 64 he says and made 3 runs with car and peeed himself 30 years ago and parked car Idk if i am a buyer as the price is more than i have to spend as of know @ 35k its all the money IMO but iof the motor was bought from who he says and the story is al true motor is 1 of the last built holmon and moody pieces out there thats complete i would remove it and refresh and see what it is he says it never has been apart or blown up he knows the car is old and steering etc is not up to par but it is what is is and was he raced it liked that had a bunch of hemi`s but kept breaking them so they bought the cammer I am out for now on the bidding I think i may go another route for that type of money and product will be a lot better
Just listen to this..... Holman Moody 427 Cammer, Steel Willys coupe drag car. Just those two together add up to MEGA BUCKS! Some idiot wanted my Impala and offered me a steel '41 Willys Gasser with an injected SBC and NO history. My car and $65,000! I respectfully declined. These cars are obviously unobtainium in real steel. And we thought '32 Ford's were high.
just the engine would be large $$$, then when you include original tin...... I'm sure SoCal would be happy to have someone pay them to make it all pretty too whoever said money can't buy happiness, didn't have enough
Well we'll soon see if the reserve was $50K, 45K now with 6 days to go. Seems the right people have found this auction. Good luck to the old guy. Hope he cleans up. If it goes for BIG money you would assume it will be done right or perhaps it will be back on sans that motor.
So he's just playing games.... Very few details in the listing but he leaves his phone number. Sounds like someone just wants to talk about days gone by.
yeah he said he would like to race again but he said he's getting too old.kinda makes me wonder if the car even exists?he says he walks by the car 10 times a day but then again like i said before he told me the car is in wisconsin the ad on e-bay still dont mention that fact.
Im at 49k on it. Once in lifetime op to own a cammer AND a willy's. I know a guy who has one in his 55 Bird. what a sweet car and what sweet sound it makes.
The logical reason for the add showing one place and the car being in another place is that his son in law posted the add for him. And reserves can be dropped or pulled anytime the seller decides that the bidding has reached the point he wants it to. Car is still worth the sum total of what a Steel 42 Willys project and a Ford Cammer are worth no matter what the final bid or reserve is.
Phone numbers sort out the semi serious from the keyboard warriors emailing you reatrded questions and offers. If I was serious Id be on a plane to go look at it and take a fistful of cash.
