Well, my main goal for Paso was met, I sold my modified, $5200 was the cash price, I'm happy with it and glad the new owner seems fired up about it. The new owner is a local Atascadero guy. Now I have some garage space back and can start on my new project 27 Ford coupe with the 60 Olds drivetrain. Paso was a lot of fun, I did the cruise Fri night and the show Sat. Sold the car early Sat morning, and the new owner had a friend with a tow truck pick it up to take to his house about 11:30 am. So the modified was not at the show for very much. Recall that I trailered the modified down, with the intention to go home with empty trailer. I was doing that and then in Salinas I stopped for fuel and restroom break. Well, there was this strange noise from under the hood. Open the hood and the alternator has ate the front bearing and the alt fan was scraping on the alt body, making the noise. So I fill up and ask if there is an auto parts store nearby, turns out there is a Kragen only half-mile away. Luckily they had the alternator in stock (it's a big 100 amp Ford model), so I changed it out in the Kragen parking lot. One hour later I was back on the road, just a minor difficulty. Glad I had my little travel toolbox with me. Just a minor blemish on an otherwise great time and show.
Good deal selling the modified! Tuff break on the altrnator, that's about a $6-8 bearing at a bearing supply.
DrJ, I hear you on that bearing. I usually do replace my own bearings in alternators, but in the pinch I was glad to just fix it easy on the road, even if the alt was $107.
you musta been driving your dually?? hmm, organ rejection! ford alt. in a late model chevy truck? you get your package last week? i'll write down the instructions for you shortly...

Good deal on the minor mishap , I ran good all the way up and all the way back , and the only trouble I had was losing ONE hubcap about 20 miles away from my house . Popped the rest of them off and into the trunk , and away we went , happy as a couple clams . It is always nice whan y ou make a trip like that and it is relatively trouble free !
So, swap out the bearing in the old one and you'll have a spare until you sell it on E-bay or at the next swap to make some of your money back.
Do you have a pict of your old modified, just so I can see what it looked like? Congrats on selling it. Sometimes it's nice to pass cars onto other people. Frees up the brain to do other things. Thanks, don
