if the solid mount proves to have excessive vibration change it back to rubber and chain the ***** down.
Street driving is dangerous. more dangerous than parachute jumping. Seriously. REAL dangerous. Most of us just make an unconcious choice to not think about it. All those guys "not thinking" about how dangerous it is, are what MAKES it so dangerous. I think about it, but I still drive. http://adventure.howstuffworks.com/skydiving8.htm
Great, something we agree on. Every oncoming car is a potential head-on accident. Every spot of water or debris on the road is a potential loss of control. If one didn't have some denial it would be too terrifying to drive. I picked sky diving because a friend did a LOT of successful jumps yet broke the same leg twice before quitting the hobby. He was told if he broke that leg again they might not be able to fix it. He got a sky diving periodical that had a list and incident description of who had spatted since the last issue. there was always at least a few.
Most late model mounts were redesigned to prevent the engine from torquing enough to do damage.... I'd look up a set and use 'em. No added engineering required. 4TTRUK
I installed solid mounts for both the trans and the engine. I also have a mid-plate. I'll let you guys know what breaks. I had those urethane mounts in my last ride. They are hard as a rock, pretty much equal to a solid mount. The reason I didn't go with them again is because they are freekin' spendy!
I had built mine as solid but decided to provide a small amount of give. I used a hole saw in the drill press and cut big rubber washers from some 1/4" belting. Each mount has 3, one above, below and in between. I haven't ran it yet.
English expression. They used to have dinners, birthday parties, Christmas parties etc for the kids. There would be baskets of buns and dinner rolls on the table. When all the good grub was eat up someone would start a fight and buns would go flying like a 3 Stooges pie fight. Hence a rowdy dinner or party = bun fight.
