I have a 30-31 pickup cab and I'd like to put a solid roof in it. Has anyone done this and what is a good donor for the roof?
You can try to find a 31 steel roof cab. Otherwise I'd say make a template of the roof curve and take it with you to a junkyard and try it on different cars.
You may not find many junkyards containing '60's Mustangs, and even fewer that'll allow you to remove one's roof. This^^^. That's how I found out an '86 Toyota minivan roof (with no ribs) matched my '28 Ford Tudor *perfectly*. You might be surprised what'll match your pickup roof, and is available for a low price. I hate mentioning them but Howells has a few options on their website, smooth and ribbed. They may still need a bit of fitting but they are a lot closer than a wrecking yard roof IMO. I'd buy them off ebay from someone who has them in stock.
