Ok guys, last night I put my intake on my 350, its a old school edelbrock that has a oil fill tube. I had purchachase some new cal customs finned valve covers from mooneyes a while back. well now thhe valve covers hit the intake? its only the drip edge of the valve cover and not the actual mating surface for the gasket. any sugestions? should I take some material off the intake or the valve covers? Heres a picture of the covers and where they are rubbing. Please help! thanks

Take a little off the valve cover. Original corvette ones are notched.

Are there cut out already in the valve cover on the other side? I have some LT-1's that chevy cast with a flat in the area you are speaking of, but only on one side of the valve cover.

Is the gasket in there yet?
A thick cork gasket might make a difference.

its at least a 3/8 gap between the covers and the mating surface for the head

I have the same covers on my car I took and marked where I needed to cut the edge and took a little off at a time till I got them to fit. Just remember to clean out the gringings every time you set them back on to check the fit, when all done wash them out good luck.

Don't ya Just LOVE the Quality of the new CHINESE Moon Junk they sell ?

Relieve the Covers a bit like the others said, I have had a few Old sets that were already relieved for clearance from the Factory.

I dont think this has to do with chinese junk. Its a performance intake ment to run with performance valve covers. Id try running thicker gaskets before i went grinding away at the valve covers.

I had the same problem with some sand-cast Edelbrock covers and an old Weiand intake. I found some thick cork valve cover gaskets (made by Detroit Gasket, I think), and they raised them enough to clear without grinding.

I would HATE to cut those valve covers. I think you could easily relieve the intake a little to make them work in conjunction with some Mr Gasket thick cork valve covers (They make them in thicknesses near double the norm.)

Let us know how you end up either way.

already tried that. unless I stack 2 gaskets (which I wont even consider) it wont work still
