so this past thanksgiving the old man tells me while combining one of our fields we rent he thought he could make out the roof of a old merc down in a ravine ! i found this hard to believe because i help with the harvest and never noticed it , so off i went and here's what i found ! dad talked to the land lord and they had no idea this stuff was even there , said the previous owners must have left it and i could have whatever i wanted , looks like someone was using the area for a dump at one time , theres tons of rubbish i need to take an extra set of hands and see what else i can uncover ! as soon as the weather gets a little better i suppose i'll fire up the loader tractor , grab some tools and go snag some stuff ! anyways thought the pics were kinda cool enjoy !

Almost seems like someone else had posted a pic of that Mercury before. Or maybe they all just look the same after awhile.

That '51 merc is a crying shame! Looks like there some good parts remaining though. Grab 'em and stash 'em...who knows, you may find a place for them later. What's that upside down unit with the toothy grill?

looks like the only panel that didnt get hurt on that merc is the grill opening. thats all i'd save off it!

That's a '46 - '47 Chevy truck grille. Looks like that is in great shape. Snag that crank hole cover from that grille, if nothing else. The grilles are being repopped, but not that crank cover.

Looks like that Impala 4-door has good front bumper corners and a few other pieces. The Merc would definitely be worth hauling out with a tractor and parted out, IMO.

That Merc looks like a prime candidate for a chopped carson style top. outside of the rear fenders most of the damaged piece will unbolt.

I remember years ago ,(well forty years ago)

we used to play in the woods ,

In our wandering we always hoped to find trash dumps,

because people would throw out stuff that to us was still useable,

as poor as we where their was always some good junk to be had..........

Thats what those pictures remind me of.

With the talent I've seen on the HAMB that Merc could be a builder. How about the remnants of the kids wagon with the picture of the F-104 Starfighter. In the late 50's they called em' the "Missile with a man in it". Cool photos, Thanks.

with the value of mercuries being what it is I would think they would have taken better care of it.

At worst, that Merc should yield a crankshaft---worth up to $400.

Even with the caved in roof, that Merc is worth pulling out in one piece. After all, the roof gets cut off when they are chopped.:D:D:D A friend of mine would be interested in the Milwaukees Best can. He actually drinks the stuff.:eek::eek:
