I was driving home last sunday and happened upon this on this little 'show' on 6th street in amarillo, texas. i'm posting this one first because i was totally blown away by what i found once i took a peek in the grill... a 8 cyl flathead behind each of those radiators! here's the rest of the photos i took Oh, and a shameless plug for my dog, George. I thought i'd see something show up here on the HAMB about these trucks, but couldn't find anything. Hope you enjoy the pics, as i couldn't tell you anything more about them, or their owners except to say that they were all beautiful, very meticulously finished vehicles.
George rocks. That show looks like it might have been organized by members of the American Truck Historical Society. Their site is at http://www.aths.org/ Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
You should have asked to take pics of the engines in this one... That's a rare bird. It has TWO engines, side by side. I don't recall if they used v8 flatheads or maybe v12 flatheads. I think they were for pulling battle tanks on a lowbed trailer.
Nice to see a serendipitous occurence recorded and provided for our enjoyment. I thank you. Old trucks tub at my "want" strings. Every weekend there is something going on somewhere that is of interest to those of us with 40W in our veins (or a suitably viscous rating of your choosing). "even if you DO got a custom two-piece pool cue" dj
I, of course, meant TUG at my 'want' strings. It's embarrasing to indulge in such wanton sesquipedalianism and then blow it all with a lame typo. "how the mighty have fallen" dj
Nice pix...think about how sometimes, for some of us, it is hard to justify to our wives or husbands why we need to build our cars, how they are a good investment, etc...imagine how hard it is on rigs like those in the pix above to make that same arguement...glad to see that some of those cool ole rigs are being saved...cool pieces of history
cool dog george has that doggy look on his face where he just got away with sniffing some chicks hoo ha an knows he got away with it cause he s a dog
Indeed, whether it be a classic car show (like last weekends Model T & A Show locally), a race meeting, a bunch of guys parked in a parking lot, a few folks hanging out wrenching on a ride....Long as its old cars/trucks/buses!/bikes...there's something happening
This black lab girl dog living here (Lexi) thinks George is hot.She just wet on the carpet when his pic came up. She wondered if he wanted to come over for a bout of sniffin' butts with her?
