Very impressive metal work! Thanks for posting those photos before paintjob!

  2. First off, this amazing work, gorgeous... Did anybody notice the way the running boards have a waist? WOW! and the exhause exiting through the body let you know there is something mechanical going on under the beautiful skin. And the way the tail light mimic the E&Js...

    Tisdelski mentioned it first,

Here's a what I think he was saying, but with a twist because it isn't my time and money.

Maybe curve the top bar at the corners and then bend the center to a slight point. Then have whoever used to do the glass for the back windows of the 77-80 Full-size Chevy 2 drs bend the glass in the center, so it's still flat on both sides, like a Duvall without the center support.

It justg might be the insomnia talking, sorry I said anything.

You're right. I guess I hadn't looked at Troy's in about 7 monthes. My old memory isn't what it used to be. What color did you paint it? Hopefully you'll pass on photos of the color. I'm CERTAIN we'll be seeing it in the top magazines...Again,beautiful vision and workmanship....Mike

I think I'll add... that I LOVE the window frame...
what it does is it gives the car a sense of credibility.

if you went with a rounded windshield it would look like a high end streetrod... that windshield frame gives it the coach feeling that bass mentioned. It feels OLD... it feels right... it feels original.

Its easy to imagine a soft top butting up against the windshield- and it gives the car an EDGE which it needed or it would get milky and round.

That thing is amazing, I would love to learn how to work with metal like that... damn.

    Rad.

  5. I agree the wildshield frame is perfect......not like the AMBR cars today that curve EVERYTHING and loose the feel of an edge....even the smoothest cars in the world need an 'edge' for reference....if you know what I mean.

    Beautiful

    Cheers

Marshall, the one front 3/4 photo looks like it has a two-piece v-butted (or whatever you call it) piece of glass... I take it from the posts this is not the case? I like the windshield hoop, it's pretty sweet, and especially "simple" looking, not as in bad simple, but as in elegantly simple.

The one thing I can't get out of my head is that the car looks "happy"... it looks like a whole car, not a car with a 'this' grille, and 'that' taillights, and an 'other' windshield, like some cars do.

    Take care,

    Ben

    Holy crap! That is impressive!

That top view shot... wow. Sunken E&Js and matching taillights... brilliant.

A curved windshield would ruin the car and then it would definitely look high zoot street roddy.

My only design critique would be the grill may be a little too far swept back and the way the shape of the front hood meets the grill... and that is how all the Coast to Coast cars, Boyd, Alloway etc all do it and it makes it look a little too modern IMO. But I am nobody, am picky about '36 Fords and it's not my car.

    Amazing work.

  14. I'd love to see this in person. The dash work is great and I think the windshield looked so right I didn't even notice it was different. Waiting to see it finished. Thanks for the pictures.

  20. I'd paint it alright, with a can of Gibbs, and a touch it up with steel wool anytime a rust spot showed up ;)
